Item type:Item, AEC garment industry competitiveness: A structural equation model of thailand's role(2015-01-01) ;Nimlaor, Chavalit ;Trimetsoontorn, JirasekFongsuwan, WannoThis study is concerned with the analysis of factors that affect the AEC garment industry and Thailand's ability to compete within it. Given the 2035 projected 850 million AEC consumer market along with the tripling of economic output by 2025, the ramifications of policy are enormous for both Thailand and the garment industry's competitiveness. Therefore, this study was undertaken to conduct analysis and structural equation modeling of the variables from membership input from the Thai Garment Manufacturers Association (TGMA). The importance of this study can't be underestimated, as Thai garment exports in 2012 declined to US$2.8 billion while textile exports dropped to US$3.5 billion, 10 and 15% drops, respectively. Study results however found that to maintain competitiveness, larger industry members are expanding their operations by relocating their production to lower wage members of the AEC such as the CLMV countries of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam while smaller Thai garment industry SMEs have already ceased trading. Although, the trend is negative for Thailand's garment enterprises, factors studied which can influence change and growth include leadership, investment, teamwork and R and D. Given greater understanding of these variables, Thailand can challenge global players and create brands that overcome what otherwise appears to be a continued contraction and loss of competitive advantage. Using decades of industry knowledge, researchers obtained quantitative data from 178 entrepreneurial TGMA members while qualitative data was gathered from in-depth interviews of 10 senior industry executives. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Structural equation model of factors affecting Thailand's commercial bank branch expansion(2015-01-01) ;Meesrijan, SittichaiFongsuwan, WannoAs a result of the 1997 Asian financial crisis, many Thai banks were forced to close. As a result, the Thai financial system and commercial banks required an infusion of capital which in many instances was of foreign nature resulting in foreign investors becoming shareholders in the banks. As a result of t he global financial crisis in 2008, the Bank of Thailand issued 7 directives concerning Basel III capital ratios of local and foreign banks operating in the Kingdom. Also in 2013, major revisions were again released by the Bank of Thailand for the licensing of new foreign commercial banks wishing to operate in the Kingdom. In this environment of dynamic global and regional change, the researchers undertook this study using both quantitative and qualitative research methods from a survey population of commercial bank executives. It was discovered that bank branch expansion was related to both corporate leadership and economic factors. Economic factors also influence leadership in determining strategic plans as well as teamwork in the ability to continue opening new branches. It was noted however that branch cost factors have minor influence on the opening of t he bank because the expectation is that with the increased customers, new customers' fees and charges offset the additional operational overhead. The research noted that marketing with niche technologies such as telephone and Internet affected building relationships with customers and was a relationship marketing tool. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Auto parts manufacturing and supply has a direct relationship with many other sectors; including leather, plastic, rubber, steel and petrochemicals. It also influences electrical output and consumption as well as electronics production. Body related finishing materials such as glass and paint/surface treatment processes and materials are also considerations. With so many components involved in domestic vehicle production, one can easily see why auto production and its related industries are so crucial to Thai economic might. Research methodologies used within this study include both quantitative and qualitative research. Quantitative is further qualified in this research essay from the survey given to 320 executives in the Thai automotive industry. The Bartial Least Square (BLS) technique, a form of structural equation modeling, is additionally used due to it being component-based rather than covariance based. Additionally, qualitative research is supported by input from questionnaires from 10 key Thai auto industry executives utilizing the purposive sampling approach. Thai auto parts organizational performance has been influenced by leadership factors, management skills and management innovation. These three variables and their quantitative and qualitative research resulted in the hypothesis of a significance level of p<0.01, respectively. The qualitative research results agreed with the corresponding quantitative research results. Research findings from this study suggest that the Thai auto parts industry must develop innovative leadership management to sustain competitive capability. © 2014 Academic Journals Inc. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Item, An analysis of thai commercial banks branch expansion factors including leadership, location, cost and economics(2014-01-01) ;Meesrichan, SittichaiFongsuwan, WannoA bank is a financial institution which deals in debts and credits. It accepts deposits, lends money and creates money. The global financial system is the worldwide framework of legal agreements, institutions and formal and informal economic actors that together facilitate international flows of financial capital for purposes of investment and trade financing. Effects of globalization make the movement of funds a requirement for many businesses, which includes Thai commercial banks' foreign investors. Foreign influence on Thai commercial banking has affected the management, style and size of the locations and branches. Additionally, scheduled branches openings are not happening due to various factors including external economic factors affecting the organization's performance, Return On Investment (ROI), amount of loan losses and the ratio of capital to risk-weighted assets of the bank. External factors included GNP (Gross National Production), export value and the savings/spending levels of local consumers. These economic factors will affect the organization's strategy and the commercial banks' strategic planning and staffing for expansion and influence location choice, branch cost and size. Consumer behavior, population density and demographics of the selected community are also external factors. Other factors include implemented transaction technologies and the potential for future expansion. Findings of this study concluded that the location and cost did not influence the branch expansion in Thailand, but it is a factor that is influenced by corporate leaders. Banks need to add branches and more service points. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Computational models for studying leadership modes(2010-03-01) ;Wattanasiripong, Nisakorn ;Wang, KarenLeenawong, ChartchaiComputational models for studying the effects of permanent and rotating leadership on the performances of teams that have full interaction among team members are proposed. In each model, the leader performs both leading roles and regular tasks as an ordinary team member. Permanent leadership refers to the situation when a team has only one leader for the entire time the team exists while rotating leadership refers to the situation when every team member rotates for the leader position. Computer simulations are used for examining the effects of the parameters in these models such as the amount of time the team exists for, the learning ability of a member, and the skill level of the leader on the expected team performance. © 2010 Pushpa Publishing House.
