    ;
    Suwunnamek, Opal
    The objective of this research was to analyse the structural equation modelling (SEM) of supply chain management, employee involvement, and employee work performance in Thailand's auto parts industry. The sample group included 383 employees operating in the aforementioned industry using SEM processing by the AMOS program as the tool. From the research, the latent variable of supply chain management had a direct positive influence on the latency of employee involvement and employee work performance with statistical significance. Simultaneously, the latency of employee involvement had no direct positive influence on the latency of employee work performance. Therefore, the latency of supply chain management did not indirectly influence the latency of employee work performance through the latency of employee involvement.

    Digital transformation involves the use of digital technologies to reorganize the operational processes and make them more effective and efficient. The article covers the problem of digital transformation of supply chain management (SCM) due to the changing business environment, and the desire to meet the customers' demand. The authors prove that the supply chain management processes are altered, such as reduction of product design and a manufacturing period, faster delivery of products to customers, easily meeting the preferences and demands of customers and faster and effective decision-making supported by big data and analytical decision techniques. In Thailand, digital transformation has been considered critical, particularly with the SMEs, which account for a significant proportion of the country's GDP. Some of the techniques that should be involved in the digitalization process include adoption of a learning culture, roadmap to development, creation of awareness, collaboration and support. In the wake of COVID-19, digital transformation has proved more essential through e-commerce and online transactions. Within this COVID-19 pandemic period and in future, the software and applications that could be used by SMEs in their process of digitalization include 3D-printers, Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Computer Aided Design (CAD), Product Lifecycle Management (PLC), Customer Relationship Management programs, Virtual Assistance, Artificial Intelligence, Total Quality Management (TQM), Just in Time (JIT), Just in Time (JIT), Lean Manufacturing (LM) among others. Some of the initiatives that could be implemented by the government include developing legal and regulatory framework of SMEs, supporting digitalization of SCM.

    A supply chain management quality management and competitive advantage framework for Thai orchid exporters
    (2019-01-01)
    Pungam, K.
    ;
    Atthirawong, W.
    This study aims to develop a conceptual framework of supply chain management (SCM), quality management (QM), and competitive advantage (CA) for agricultural business, specifically, the Thai orchid industry. Papers relating to elements of SCM, QM, and CA adopted by different organisations in the small-to-medium size enterprises (SMEs) sector were reviewed. The conceptual framework comprises three elements: first, SCM, which includes strategic supplier partnerships, customer relationships, and information sharing; second, quality management, which includes top management commitment, customer focus, employee involvement, and continuous improvement, and finally, competitive advantage, including price and cost-based, product-based, and service-based advantages. The literature review reveals SCM and QM have the strongest influence on CA. Thus, we propose conceptual frameworks of the relationship between SCM, QM, and CA. After developing the conceptual framework, we aim to create questionnaire as a research instrument. This will be sent to Thai orchid exporters and the responses will be analysed using the structural equation modelling (SEM) approach.

    In general, supply chain management creates value for firms, customers, vendors, and stakeholders interrelating throughout a supply chain. The emergence of supply chain management components in supporting such circumstances have resulted in the need to explore further their subsequent effect on firm performance. This study attempts to examine the use of supply chain management components and investigates relationships between each of 11 supply chain management components and performance of Thai firms. Based on responses received from 241 firms, correlations and simple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Our results suggest that there are significant positive relationship between components and firm performance. This study not only validates supply chain components’ contribution and emphasizes its potential, but it also ranks top five most critical supply chain management components affecting firm performance. These findings provide important insights for managers to understand the nature of their firms. It is also suggested that firms should focus more on managerial and behavioral management components.

    Visionary leadership is defined as one's ability to clearly perceive and foresee the future in order to prepare to face the unpredictable consequences. Hence, the aim of this paper is to examine factors affecting visionary leadership of logistics and supply chain managers. Five factors, namely, creativity, communication, organisation climate, emotional intelligence and traits were identified from relevant researches. This study explored with supply chain managers in the anufacturing industry of Thailand with 560 samples of 4636 total population. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was tested with second order. It was revealed that the model fit confirms as appropriate (GFI = 0.953, AGFI = 0.930, CFI = 0.986 and RMSEA = 0.042). It showed that the model is valid and reliable to the visionary leadership for supply chain managers in the manufacturing industry of Thailand. On the basis of these current data it appears that five factors influence their visionary leadership.

    Research has determined that business tourism produces more income per person, per day than leisure travellers. To understand this phenomenon, this study investigated the effects of capacity management, customer relationship management, information computer technology (ICT), service quality, supplier relationship management (SRM), and supply chain management (SCM) on Thailand's meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) industry organisational effectiveness. The researchers embraced a descriptive survey methodology designed to assess how the 500 managers surveyed viewed their organisations' effectiveness. The design employed the self-administration of questionnaires to a sample of individuals which was aimed at finding each individual's attitudes and opinion about how the 21 observed variables impacted their operations. Of the 10 hypotheses and 21 observed variables, nine were proven, with the findings confirming that ICT has a significant effect on MICE organisational effectiveness.

    This study aims to investigate important factors influencing on long term relationship between palm oil mill plants and palm oil yards in Thailand by studying on points of view of sellers (palm oil yards). This research is a quantitative research and its hypothetical model was created from related theories and researches. The obtained data was collected from 393 palm oil yards in Thailand and SEM was employed to test hypotheses. It was found that relationship quality had direct influence on long t e rm relationship while price satisfaction had no direct influence on long t e rm relationship. On the other hand, it had indirect influence on long t e rm relationship through relationship quality. Relational norms had direct influence on price satisfaction and indirect influence on long term relationship through relationship quality and long term relationship. Finally, supply strategy had direct influence on relationship quality as well as had indirect influence on long t e rm relationship through relationship quality. Executives of palm oil mill plants are able to apply this model by determining supply strategy and developing relational norms to be consistent with demands of palm sellers leading to price satisfaction and relationship quality influencing on intention to maintain long term relationship of palm sellers.

    This paper presents a linear integer programming model to plan the production through information sharing across a supply chain. The advantage is that information sharing makes the whole supply chain globally visualized and yet decreasing in variability on the supply chain. Instead of individually plan for its own manufacturing, demand from all retailers are accumulated and then globally planned for all manufacturers. The objective function of the proposed model is to minimize the total costs involved. Numerical results verify that this model can be used to generate feasible and optimal plans across the supply chain. © 2008 SICE.

    There is a need to adequately analyze the supply chain prior to embarking on the improvement recommendation and implementation. Quick scan is an analytical and systematic tool for conducting a supply chain business diagnostic. The method is relatively quick and efficient for in-depth consideration and synthesis of the overall supply chain in the given time frame. In this paper Quick scan is utilized as a quick check in the white shrimp industry in Thailand, which consists of many parties, i.e. suppliers, farmers, middle men, frozen companies, government offices, and relevant agencies. The anticipated outcome may provide more understanding and further develop generic research models for any changes and improvement in this industry.
