    Sustainable Air Purifiers for Thai Smart Cities: Integrating Circular Economy and Public Health in Municipal Innovation

    Rapid urbanization and economic growth in Thailand have intensified urban air-quality challenges, especially PM2.5 pollution associated with agricultural burning, industrial emissions, and traffic congestion. Municipal governments are therefore exploring technological interventions that can complement conventional emission-control policies in the transition toward healthier smart cities. One promising approach is the deployment of sustainable outdoor air-purifier towers equipped with high-speed fans, jet scrubbers, and IoT-based monitoring systems. Early pilots, including the MQDC FahSai Mini tower, have demonstrated substantial dust-reduction potential and real-time data integration with public air-quality platforms. This study develops an interdisciplinary framework that connects public health, circular economy principles, technology adoption, and sustainable urban design. We examine how environmental awareness, perceived effectiveness, social influence, perceived cost, health anxiety, and value co-creation shape adoption intention and behavior toward municipal air-purification systems in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, and Phuket. Using mixed methods, including interviews and survey data from 320 stakeholders, residents, and officials, and analyzing the data through CFA and SEM, the study finds that environmental awareness and perceived effectiveness positively influence adoption, while perceived cost reduces it. Value co-creation emerges as the strongest driver of adoption intention and mediates the role of social influence. Scenario analysis further indicates that the deployment of 10–15 purifier towers could reduce PM2.5 by approximately 30–40% and generate meaningful health-related economic benefits. The discussion now more explicitly addresses the end-of-life management of saturated filter media, the role of multi-level governance and redistributive financing for urban equity, and the importance of addressing technological anxiety to secure a durable social license for deployment.

    Determinants influencing the adoption of the windy.com application among large-scale durian farmers’ groups in Rayong Province, Thailand

    The findings found that farmers who participated in training and utilised the Windy.com application, the majority of participants were male, aged between 51 and 60 years, with a bachelor’s degree and an average household size of 3–4 members. The farmers possessed 1–15 years’ experience in durian cultivation, with farm sizes ranging from 1 to 25 rai. The average durian yield was approximately 1,000–2,000 kilograms per rai, with an average market price of 91–120 Baht per kilogram. Participants demonstrated a high level of knowledge (µ = 81.20) and exhibited a positive attitude towards the Windy.com application (mean = 3.91), with the highest attitude score observed in the content dimension (µ = 4.08). Overall, the adoption of the application was rated as high (µ = 4.09), particularly concerning their intention to use it (µ = 4.23) and perceived usefulness (µ = 4.06). Multiple regression analysis reveals attitude to be the most significant predictor of adoption (β = 0.67, p < 0.01), suggesting that improved attitudes among farmers increased their adoption of the application. Conversely, factors such as farming experience and farm size was significantly influenced adoption (p > 0.05). The results imply that promoting positive attitudes and providing effective training can significantly enhance farmers’ long-term adoption and utilisation of digital applications.

    Adoption of Mobile Banking Applications: Effects of Short-Term Thinking Mindset and Serial Mediation of Perceived Risk, Usefulness, and Trust

    In contemporary business environments, a short-term thinking mindset that prioritizes immediate outcomes often undermines long-term planning and may impede the adoption of emerging technologies. Although prior research on mobile technology adoption has emphasized functional and cognitive factors, limited attention has been given to mindset-driven explanations. This study adopts a mindset–perception–behavior framework to examine how individuals with a short-term thinking orientation adopt mobile banking applications, with a particular focus on the mediating roles of perceived risk, trust, and usefulness. Using SEM on data collected from 207 university students, the results show that short-term thinkers exhibit heightened concerns about data privacy and security, which in turn diminish their perceived trust and usefulness of mobile banking services. Consequently, individuals with a short-term thinking mindset are unlikely to adopt mobile banking applications unless they consciously evaluate these mediating perceptions. Specifically, perceived risk exerts a sequential influence on both perceived usefulness and trust, which mediate their decision to adopt these applications. The findings offer practical insights for financial institutions aiming to better serve customers with a short-term thinking orientation. The study concludes by discussing its limitations and suggesting directions for future research.

    Institutionalization and adoption of digital technology in Thai maritime industry

    Purpose This study explores the complex process of digital technology adoption and institutionalization within the Thai maritime industry. It aims to discern the pivotal factors that influence the integration of digital technologies into organizational practices, focusing on members of the Thai Shipowners Association (TSA). Design/methodology/approach This study integrates the technology organization and environment (TOE) framework, technology acceptance model (TAM) and institutional theory to investigate digital technology adoption in the Thai maritime industry. A survey was distributed to all shipowners in the TSA, achieving a 22% response rate with 240 valid responses from an estimated 1,100 employees. Data were analyzed using partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Findings Key findings of the research include the identification of IT skills and IT support as strong predictors of perceived ease of use, while organizational culture and top management endorsement significantly influence perceived benefits. The study also highlights the less definitive impact of organizational rules and legal requirements on adoption intentions. A notable insight is the role of social pressure in driving institutional changes, emphasizing the importance of external influences in technology integration. Research limitations/implications This study’s primary limitation is its context-specific focus on Thai maritime companies, which may not generalize to other industries or cultural contexts. Findings could vary under different organizational conditions or regulatory frameworks. Additionally, some results, such as the non-significant impacts of reliable IT infrastructure and legal frameworks, suggest complexities in technology adoption and institutionalization not fully captured by the study. Future research should expand these findings across diverse industries and explore how evolving digital technologies influence organizational strategies. Originality/value This research contributes uniquely by deploying an integrative theoretical model to examine digital technology adoption in an industry that is traditionally slow to innovate. The findings offer substantial insights into the processes of adoption and institutionalization, demonstrating how these contribute to long-term operational improvements in maritime businesses. This dual focus is instrumental for stakeholders aiming to navigate the complexities of digital transformation effectively.

    Exploring the adoption of photovoltaic cleaning robots: An institutional management approach

    There is increased adoption of renewable energy, particularly photovoltaic (PV), as a major source of clean and environmentally friendly energy. With the wide application of PV technologies, commonly called solar panels, their appropriate maintenance and cleaning are vital for optimum PV energy generation. The research focuses on exploring the various factors attributed to influence the want, intention and need to use PV panel cleaning robots in Thailand from an institutional management perspective. The study adopted the extended C-TAM-TPB by adding three more variables-Trust in technology, awareness of renewable energy, and environmental concern. A quantitative approach was used, where primary data was collected from PV institutional users. A population sample of 411 respondents was used. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) came in handy in evaluating the performance model, with the study's hypotheses being evaluated by the structural equation modeling (SEM). Results indicated that most of the subjective behaviors, perceived behavioral controls, and trust in technology played a key role in determining the intention and need to use solar panel cleaning robots. Perceived usefulness was found to have significant influence towards PV panel adoption. The influence of attitude was mediated by several factors – environmental concern, renewable energy awareness, trust in technology. The study recommended that the institutional users of solar panels should consider investing in knowledge regarding perceived behavioral control, developing confidence in the use of renewable and sustainable energy, and developing trust of the renewable and sustainable energy technologies. This could be achieved through programs such as public awareness, sharing accurate information regarding solar panel cleaning robots, and providing support and after sales support. Educational initiatives to change users' attitudes toward renewable energy technologies were recommended.

    Digital technology adoption and institutionalization in Thai maritime industry: An exploratory study of the Thai shipowners

    This exploratory study delves into the factors influencing digital technology adoption and the dynamics of its institutionalization within the Thai maritime industry, a key sector underpinning Thailand's economic expansion. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with executive leaders from seven Thai shipowners, utilizing a snowball sampling method. The study reveals that digital technology adoption is driven by a complex interplay of factors including reliable IT infrastructure, perceived technological benefits, organizational culture, top management support, IT skills and support, legal, regulatory, and policy requirements, social pressure influence, and varying degrees of government support. Additionally, the institutionalization of such technologies within the maritime sector is heavily reliant on well-defined organizational rules and the establishment of trust in technological advancements. These findings not only enrich the theoretical landscape regarding digital adoption but also offer practical insights for industry stakeholders, paving the way for more nuanced interventions and policy formulations aimed at enhancing digital integration in this traditionally conservative sector.

    Factors Influencing Customer Retention in the Parcel Delivery Industry

    This study, based on a sample of 385 customers, investigates the intricate dynamics of factors influencing customer retention within the parcel delivery sector. A structured questionnaire-based survey was the primary data collection tool, supplemented by advanced statistical techniques, including multiple linear regressions, for comprehensive data analysis. The study has identified five pivotal factors shaping customer retention: Technology Adoption, Communication Channels, Online Ordering Experience, Service Quality, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability Perception. The findings reveal the significant influence of these factors on customer retention—technology adoption, including tracking and tracing technologies, fosters transparency, trust, and increased customer satisfaction. Effective communication channels, mobile apps, and personalized services ensure customer engagement and heightened loyalty. A seamless online ordering experience, coupled with secure payment processes, positively impacts customer satisfaction and repeat business. Service quality and reliability, characterized by professionalism and damage-free deliveries, maintain customer trust. Lastly, CSR and sustainability perception exemplify a robust commitment to ethical and sustainable business practices, which bolster community goodwill and customer retention. The results of this study provide valuable insights for parcel delivery companies, enabling them to formulate and implement strategies that address each of these critical factors. By harnessing the power of technology, enhancing communication channels, refining online ordering experiences, elevating service quality, and actively engaging in CSR and sustainability initiatives, these companies can effectively fortify customer retention, nurturing long-term loyalty in an ever-evolving industry landscape.

    The study found that household respondents have positive attitudes towards the Golden Apple Snail-Vegetable/Herb (GASVH) aquaponics innovation. Results implied that urban households were open to constant exploration of how the innovation would give better livelihood and income opportunities. Furthermore, the adoption acceptance survey revealed that household respondents generally have high-level ratings at each stage of the adoption process. This finding indicates respondents' positive knowledge and attitude toward an enhanced innovation adoption of GASVH aquaponics. It is recommended that GASVH aquaponics innovation be promoted particularly to urban households, as this can help to address food security and safety issues in urban areas. Urban families generally had high knowledge and positive attitudes towards technology which it is promising innovation for adoption.

    The causal factors that affect the organizational performance of large-size companies in Thailand through HR analytics

    Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of the causal factors, namely Organizational Culture (OC), Technology Adoption (TEA), and HR Competencies (HRC) on Organizational Performance (ORP), with a focus on the moderating effect of HR analytics (HRA). Design/Methodology/Approach: Data were collected using the purposive sampling method from 498 top management in the human resources department working for large-size organizations in Thailand. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM) are applied as statistical techniques to validate and test the proposed hypotheses of the conceptual framework. Findings: Results give strong supporting evidence to accept all the proposed hypotheses that the studied factors are contributing to each other and creating an impact on organizational performance. Conclusion: It is confirmed that ORC, TEA, and HRC have positively impacts on HRA and ORP. In addition, it is also confirmed that HRA acts as a moderating factor to facilitate the impact of ORC, TEA, and HRC on ORP. Research Limitations/Implications: The scope of this study only focuses on large-size organizations that operate in Thailand. Practical Implications: This study provides guidelines for an organization to improve factors that can have a positive impact on their performances. Contribution to Literature: This study serves as one of the pioneering contributions to the field of HRA and its implications for ORP.

    Evaluating consumers’ adoption of renewable energy

    The purpose of this study was to evaluate the consumers’ adoption of renewable energy in Poland. The study focused on finding out the factors that influence the adoption of the technology, considering its importance in conserving the environment. The study was conducted using a quantitative method, with primary data collected from 467 households using renewable energy technology in Poland. The research adopted the TAM model. The independent variables of the study included renewable energy initial cost, environmental concern, risk and trust for renewable energy, ease of use, financial incentives, and relative advantage. The dependent variable was renewable energy adoption. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to analyze the study hypotheses. The research found out that environmental concerns, ease of use, financial incentives, and relative advantage have a positive and significant influence on adoption of renewable energy technology in Poland. However, renewable energy initial cost and risk, and trust for renewable energy did not significantly influence renewable energy adoption. The study recommended that the stakeholders should consider the aspects of environmental concern as a key role player in pushing for adoption of renewable energy. The government, non-governmental organizations, and concerned stakeholders should consider giving incentives towards renewable energy adoption. Creating awareness regarding the benefits and strengths of renewable energy should be prioritized to the households.
