Item type:Item, Improving Thai undergraduate students’ web design skills for smartphones through a collaborative blended learning approach(2025-01-01) ;Pimdee, Paitoon ;Wuttikamonchai, Oraboot ;Sukkamart, Aukkapong ;Meedee, ChontawatMeekhobtong, SirinthornPurpose: The increasing ubiquity of smartphones has created a growing demand for web designers skilled in creating responsive, user-centered, and smartphone-accessible websites. However, Thai undergraduate students often lack specialized training in mobile website design, highlighting a critical gap in digital education. While cooperative and blended learning has been recognized as effective pedagogical strategies, there is limited research on how these approaches can be integrated to address specific skill gaps in mobile web design. This study aims to develop and evaluate a Collaborative-Blended Learning Management Model (CBLMM) to enhance students’ proficiency in smartphone website design. Methods: The CBLMM was developed by synthesizing cooperative and blended learning literature and a needs assessment focused on mobile web design competencies. The model consists of six key stages: (1) online self-study, (2) in-class lectures, (3) group activities, (4) project presentations, (5) summarization and evaluation, and (6) discussion and reflection. The model was evaluated by nine experts using a connoisseurship approach, assessing its usefulness, feasibility, appropriateness, accuracy, and effectiveness. To test the model’s efficacy, an experimental study was conducted with 19 third-year students enrolled in a web design course. Results: Expert evaluations indicated that the CBLMM received high ratings across all assessment criteria. The experimental results showed a statistically significant improvement in students’ mobile website design skills, surpassing the 60% benchmark with significance at p < 0.05. Post-learning assessments also revealed marked improvements in user experience (UX) design compared to pre-learning performance. The effect size analysis indicated a moderate practical impact on skill development (d = 0.44) and a significant effect on academic achievement (d = 1.18). Discussion: These findings suggest that structured, collaborative, and blended learning approaches can effectively equip students with essential digital design skills, filling critical gaps in higher education curricula. The study contributes to the field by demonstrating the CBLMM’s potential for enhancing mobile web design education, with broader implications for curriculum development and instructional design. Future research should explore the model’s applicability in diverse educational settings, examine long-term skill retention, and integrate emerging technologies such as AI-driven adaptive learning to refine digital education strategies further. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, A longitudinal examination of collaboration diversity among communication scholars: 1990–2023(2024-12-01) ;Xu, Shan ;Jitkajornwanich, Kulsawasd ;David, Prabu ;Park, Hye JungZhao, YaniThis study examines racial diversity in co-authorship in articles published in communication journals and its association with citations accrued over time. We analyzed 76,217 publications from 73 communication journals, spanning from 1990 to 2023, with a focus on racial diversity in authorship as an indicator of collaboration diversity. Our results reveal that diversity is positively associated with the number of citations received, with this positive effect increasing over time. In addition, non-White lead authors collaborated more diversely, whereas White authors exhibited a faster increase in collaboration diversity over the years. Furthermore, the positive association between collaboration diversity and citations was more pronounced when the lead author was non-White than when White. Additional analyses show a concerning disparity: While non-White first authors are equally likely as their White counterparts to publish in top journals, they receive significantly fewer citations. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Sharing the Same Sound: Reflecting on Interactions between a Live Coder and a Violinist(2023-01-01) ;Dal Rì, Francesco Ardan ;Zanghellini, FrancescaMasu, RaulThis paper introduces a performative ecosystem created with the aim of promoting a joint expression between a live coder and an instrumentalist. The live coding environment is based on TidalCycles1, controlling a sample machine implemented in SuperCollider2. The instrumentalist can record short samples of his/her playing in different buffers, which the live coder can then process. The ecosystem was intensively used by the first and the second author of this paper (respectively live coder and violinist) to develop a performance. At the end of this paper, we provide a number of reflections on the entanglement of the different roles and agencies that emerged during the rehearsals. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Cross cultural logistics and supply chain management towards organizational effectiveness within the asean/Thai automotive industries: A sem analysis(2016-09-01) ;Dansomboon, Suwaj ;Phimonsathienand, ThepparatFongsuwan, WannoAs a manufacturing, logistics and supply chain hub within ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), Thailand holds the 12th spot in global vehicle production for an estimated 2,355 Thai and multinational automotive industry enterprises. Within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Thailand ranks number one in automotive production contributing $US11.4 billion to the Thai economy and 12 percent to Thailand's GDP (Gross Domestic Product), with the automotive industry being Thailand's leading export sector. However, the automotive companies envisage the difficulty of cultural diversity to manage and coordinate. Therefore, cultural values from the milieu are inducted into the workplace and have a strong impact on both individual behavior and organizational effectiveness and must be direction at all levels for cross-cultural, organizational effectiveness to be achieved. It also became evident that natural disasters are frequent and highly disruptive to the global automotive supply chain and paces must be taken to countervailing the notable and continuing loss to economic growth and organizational effectiveness to both sector units and the global industry. The implementation of strategically placed, environmentally 'habituated', automotive parts logistics cache might be one solution to the problem. Given the crucial importance of this sector to the economy of the region and the global supply chain, the researchers surveyed 220 managers using a 7-point Likert scale questionnaire within the multinational industrial clusters of Thailand's 'Detroit of Asia' Eastern Seaboard region. Using Structural Equation Modelling to test the 11 variables on Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management and Organizational Effectiveness in a cross-cultural context, it was determined that collaboration within the supply chain and the exchange of information can reduce uncertainty, with trust being a key ingredient to a JV's success. Communication (0.836), trust (0.834) and collaboration (0.824) were ranked as significant components of cross-cultural Supply Chain Management effectiveness. The research also confirmed that the hypothesized difficulty from cultural diversity is difficult to manage and to coordinate. Analysis also confirmed the ongoing and significant problems to the global automotive supply chain by natural disasters and the consequential economic losses.
