    The effects of operating conditions and the biomass component on combustion efficiency and emission performance of a swirling fluidized-bed combustor fired using

    This work presents a study for biomass possible to bring renewable energy in a swirling fluidized bed combustor (SFBC). The main objective of this experimental work was to study the biomass component and excess air of biomass. Palmyra palm shell, Leucaena (lam.), and water hyacinth are using as fuel in the tests. Quartz sand of 600-850 µm and static bed height of 20 cm was used as inert bed material. For all of the tests, the feed rate was fixed as 45 kg h<sup>-1</sup> for variable excess air (of 40%, 60% and 80%). As the experimental results, the temperature profiles in SFBC were obviously seen deviate when tests with higher excess air. In the test run, the highest cellulose (palmyra palm shell) for 80% excess air had CO and NO emissions were found in quite stable level (less than 250 and 300 ppm, respectively). The combustion efficiency more than 99% could be achieved in this work.

    Assessment of the suitability of land use for agriculture by analytical hierarchy process: Ahp in lower prachinburi watershed, Eastern Thailand

    The low Prachinburi watershed is a gateway to other regions of the country. Due to a rapid increase in population there, there is also an increase in agricultural production area. This study aims to assess the appropriateness of land use by using an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) for land use planning. The results of the study revealed that there is a moderate level of the appropriateness in land use development. The most appropriate area (S1) accounts for 22.07%; the moderately appropriate area (S2) accounts for 54.15%; the lowly appropriate area (S3) accounts for 10.25%; and the inappropriate area accounts 13.52% of the area. Regarding a guideline for agricultural area management, it is found to be most appropriate, particularly on field crop growing such as cassava, sugar cane, and maize growing and followed by rice growing and or charding (58.51%, 25.17%, and 6.04%, respectively). Only 10.25% of the total area is inappropriate for farming.

    Study of texture properties rejuvenation for aged rice kernel

    Aged rice (stored > 3 months) undergoes significant texture changes, especially hardness and stickiness. Hardness increases, while stickiness decreases with aging. Rice grains were subjected to heat treatment using three different methods: hot air oven (HA), infrared (IR) and microwave (MW). The HA and IR applied heat at a temperature of 100°C, while the MW applied heat at a power of 800 watts. The heat treatment was applied for 3, 4, and 5 minutes. As a result, the hardness of aged rice treated with HA and IR was effectively reduced to 17.79±2.38 N and 17.73±1.26 N, respectively. In contrast, the MW exhibited a lesser reduction in hardness, reaching to 22.82±2.32 N. Regarding stickiness, no statistically significant differences were observed (p < 0.05). Furthermore, hardness exhibited a decreasing with increasing heating time. Additional parameters, Whiteness, transparency and Volume expansion, were also evaluated. Whiteness values were observed to exhibit an increase for all treatments, in contrast to transparency values, which demonstrated a decrease. Volume expansion values, on the other hand, displayed a stable trend, with the exception of MW treated samples, where a statistically significant increase (p < 0.05) was observed.
