Item type:Publication, Low-cost carrier passenger repurchase intention: A structural equation model analysis(2017-01-01); Low-cost carrier (LCC) aviation has exploded globally, which now represents 26% of all passenger seats, while in Southeast Asia LCC passengers have soared to 54%. The purpose of this research was, therefore, to develop and examine the accuracy of a structural equation model of the factors affecting repurchase intention of low-cost carrier passengers in Thailand. Convenience sampling was utilized to obtain a sample of 440 individuals from four Thai low-cost carriers, including Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air (Don Muang Airport-DMK), and Thai Smile Airways (Suvarnabhumi Airport-BKK) in 2016. To examine the study’s five latent and 22 observed variables, a 97-item survey was used. Results from the study determined the positive and significant influences that customer satisfaction has on customer loyalty, followed by electronic service quality on customer satisfaction, and customer satisfaction on repurchase intention, respectively. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Analysis of fixed broadband access and use in Thailand: Drivers and barriers(2013-01-01); Bohlin, ErikThe aim of this paper is to analyze the demand for fixed broadband in Thailand. Data were obtained from a national survey in 2010 by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand. The bivariate probit model was employed to examine empirically whether accessibility to fixed telephony infrastructure, socio-economic variables and the area of residence have a systematic link to fixed broadband access in the first stage, and then, specific usage, provided access exists, is estimated. Results of this study show that the variables, together with their potential impact, are as follows: fixed infrastructure, income, gender, level of education, age of consumer and residential area. The impact of these factors varies from service to service (i.e. video download, social network, searching and e-mail). The implications for the NBTC are to encourage competition through the infrastructure and to permit more competition in infrastructure development. This could stimulate the growth of fixed broadband access and use. At the same time, the government could also implement policies to encourage more access and usage, for example income subsidization and training program. © 2012 Elsevier Ltd. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Uncertainty of public pay phone in Thailand: Implications for the universal service obligation(2014-01-01)Public pay telephones are fast becoming technological dinosaurs headed quickly toward extinction. In Thailand, however, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has included the public pay phone as part of the Universal Service Obligation (USO) to ensure that all people in the country have reasonable access to a standard telephone service on request, and that payphones are accessible to all people on an equitable basis, wherever they live or carry on business. In spite of this, however, public pay phones and their revenue are also sharply declining due to the ever increasing encroachment of mobile phone technology. The researcher therefore undertook a study to empirically examine the key determinant factors for individual consumers using public payphones. A discrete choice model is employed together with the analysis of data from a 2011 national survey commissioned by the NBTC. Payphone usage is determined by the ownership of fixed phones, mobile phones and income which all play an important role with payphone being a necessary service for low-income people. Hence, NBTC should continue support through the USO fund and reassess the areas and groups of people who need this service in order to ensure that the USO policy is effectively and beneficially implemented. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Shifting Thai mobile user behavior and its impact on mobile regulation(2017-07-01)This study investigated the determinants of mobile- only user (mobivore) subscribers in the Thai mobile communications market. Survey data from 2014 along with a probit model were employed for analysis. Results showed that Thai subscriber characteristics including gender, home location, ownership of a smartphone, employment as a government official, private-sector executive and self-employed, and the type of Internet application, can significantly explain mobile-only user behavior of Thai mobile subscribers. Findings also showed that subscribers who were heavy Internet users used other complimentary services. Additionally, telecom regulators should consider implementing a quality of service regulation which provides the opportunity for rural subscribers to better access mobile services, and develop a spectrum allocation policy that is consistent with the high demand of a mobile only user. This will benefit both urban and rural users. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Mobile phone customer loyalty in Thailand: A path analysis case study(2017-01-01) ;Pumim, Adilak; Panjakajornsak, VinaiResearch was reviewed globally from mobile/cellular carriers to develop the six antecedents (customer satisfaction, perceived service quality, customer trust, corporate image, perceived value, and perceived switching costs) contributing to mobile customer loyalty in Thailand. Data were drawn from interviews with 515 Thai mobile users, who were asked about customer satisfaction, service quality perceptions, and customer loyalty. Findings suggest that perceived service quality and value have a direct positive influence on customer satisfaction: if the customer’s perception of service quality and customer satisfaction is high, it has a strong influence on customer loyalty. Additionally, if the perceived service quality is high, it has a direct impact on perceived value and customer satisfaction, in terms of price, value, terms, and reasonable carrier services. Finally, perception regarding switching costs is recognized in non-monetary terms and plays a key role in influencing customer loyalty. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, An empirical analysis of multiple services and choices of consumer in the Swedish telecommunications market(2014-01-01) ;Srinuan, Pratompong; Bohlin, ErikReceived analyses state that firms can use a multiple services offering strategy to retain customers and capture new customers. Factors that determine the multiple services strategy include product discount, service provider and customer characteristics. Consequently, this study addresses the fundamental question: what are the key determining factors that explain the probability that a consumer buys multiple services? A generalized Poisson regression model is employed to examine whether the product discount, service provider, socio-economic variables and geographical location impact consumer decisions. Data from a national survey in 2009 commissioned by Post-och Telestyrelsen, the Swedish telecommunications regulator, are analyzed. The results clearly show that the discount, service provider and income of the consumer affect the consumers buying decision. A consumer who receives a discount or has a high income is more likely to buy multiple services or select more services from the current service provider into his basket than a consumer who does not receive discount or has lower income. Service providers, cable TV operators and telecommunications carriers can also lock-in their consumer and expand their market position from one particular service to another using bundling service. Thus, this may be the time for the telecommunications regulator to consider the market definition. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A Thai banking industry organisational performance analysis(2017-01-01) ;Pranee, Tasanai ;Napompech, KulkanyaThe purpose of this research is to determine the effects of talent management, technological innovation and service quality on Thai bank performance. The population of the study consisted of 14 registered banking enterprises along with their associated 2068 branches. Using the IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS v.21), 424 responses selected from a simple random sampling survey were analysed using both a secondorder confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modelling (SEM). From the 93-item survey, pre-trail test, and the in-depth interviews from five experts, a questionnaire reliability score of 0.98 was obtained. Findings revealed that technological innovation and service quality strongly influence the Thai banking industry's performance, and should be given great attention. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Pricing strategies and innovations in the Thai mobile communications market(2013-01-31); ;Srinuan, PratompongBohlin, ErikPurpose: The aim of this paper is to explore the price plans offered by Thai mobile operators and analyse the role of demand characteristics in the development of new price plans. The paper also shows how demand affects a firm's degree of innovativeness in terms of the number of new price plans. Design/methodology/approach: The empirical qualitative analysis is based on an original data set from several secondary data sources and includes all the price plans offered in the history of the Thai mobile communications market between 2002 and 2010. Findings: The results show that mobile operators have introduced several innovative price plans to attract and retain their consumers. Although a greater number of price plans can increase competition among operators, some have complex combinations that may lead to confusion for consumers. Practical implications: A price comparison programme should therefore be implemented by the telecom regulator to ensure that consumers receive correct and complete information about the price plans. Originality/value: Most studies, by far, have not extensively discussed this mobile communications market in detail and the effect of innovation on competition between firms in the mobile communications industry, in particular the development of innovation in developing countries. © Emerald Group Publishing Limited. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A cross-cultural study on the value structure of mobile internet usage: Comparison between Indonesia and Thailand(2016-01-01) ;Wardani, Ranti YuliaThis study aims to examine the usage a pattern of mobile Internet from perspective of intercultural among developing countries. Data obtained from a survey of questionnaire which is distributed in both Thailand and Indonesia during 2013. The multiple regression analysis has been applied to identify between value structures (functional value, emotional value, social value and monetary value) and overall satisfaction in each country. Finding shows that functional value, emotional value, social value, and monetary value significantly affect satisfaction for Indonesia users which is similar to Thai users except the emotional value does not affect the satisfaction. A comparison test to examine the difference in value structure between Indonesia and Thailand has been analyzed. The results show that the functional value, emotional value, social value and monetary value between Indonesia and Thailand are different. The results of these differences are influenced by the perceptions of respondents in Indonesia and Thailand to the different mobile Internet usage pattern. In this case it turns out different cultures influence the way in perceiving the use of different technologies, especially in the mobile Internet usage pattern. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
