    Web object life measurement using Squid log file

    Web object life was directly and costly derived by directly polling at original Web servers. A new Web object life measurement is proposed using a proxy and cache server log file. Each object-request record is classified into life-related types, Life-Hit, Life-Miss, Life-Unknown or Life-Ignore. An object life is calculated using Life-Hit and Life-Miss's timestamps. This indirect measurement has been analyzed for its error and accuracy. Error and accuracy are better if there are more life-related requests for an object. Squid's access log file is used, and its results codes are mapped to life-related types. All requested object lives are calculated and shown in distribution graphs with average accuracy indicated. © 2001 IEEE.

    Content-based load balancing with multicast and TCP-handoff

    Recently, cluster systems have been used by many web sites to increase service availability and balancing workload among multiple servers. There are two types of cluster architecture; centralized cluster and distributed cluster. Although centralized cluster is more effective at load balancing than distributed cluster, it contains two serious weaknesses; bottlenecking and single-point-of-failure. To achieve the strengths of both the centralized and distributed clusters, this paper proposes the use of distributed cluster using Multicast technology. With the use of distributed cluster, problems of bottleneck and single-point-of-failure are effectively prevented. To gain the load balancing strength of centralized cluster, Multicast technology is employed. Multicast load balancing occurs at layer-2 of protocol stack. Hence, overhead of request redirecting is significantly reduced. Additionally, TCP-handoff technology for Content-based load balancing is applied to enhance system's availability and scalability.

    Now, internet is a very large size network. The internet is a packet switched network offers best-effort service, not guarantee packet that was sent. That has not enough for user's requirements. Router provide different qualities of service to different application such Visual Private Network (VPN), Quality of Service (QOS), Distribute Firewall. Each service needs router to determine packet belonging to different flows. Thus router needs mechanisms for that. Example admission control, resource reservation, per-flow queuing, all of mechanisms needs tool to distinguish packet belong to different flows, so packet classification become a very importance tool. Therefore, researchers have proposed variety of algorithms each type suitable for different application and have different advantage and disadvantage. In this paper propose packet classification's algorithm, algorithm uses cache concept to increase performance, called "Bitmap Intersection Lookup Using Cache". ©2010 IEEE.

    Recursive Digital Filters With Predetermined Group Delay And Chebyshev Stopband Attenuation

    Recently, a conformal mapping technique has been described whereby the transfer function of a recursive digital filter with prescribed group delay and Chebyshev stopband can be obtained in such a way that the numerator and denominator polynomials are different in order. It is shown here that such a transfer function can also be determined using the familiar bilinear transformation and the well known method in the s-domain.     Dynamic policy-based routing using firewall rules

    A firewall is basically a defense device to control incoming and outgoing network traffic. Policies and rules are important components of a firewall that allow packets to pass through by network administration. However, administrators do not know what the destination policies and rules are, and bandwidth control and management are not efficient. A concept occurred that firewalls can transfer and learn access control lists via Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). In this paper we propose transferring firewall rules using routing protocol. This will decide and select the best path for routers over transit autonomous systems. We also propose to develop routing protocol for reducing costs, for load sharing, and to utilize and optimize problems encountered in the implementation of traffic policies on network routers. © 2009 IEEE.

    A rule-based training for artificial neural network packet filtering firewall

    The Artificial Neural Network has been used in many network applications, including firewalls. Training process of neural network is very important to define the intelligence of the systems. Many artificial neural network firewalls used direct network packets for training process, which may be difficult to get training samples and may not follow their firewall's policies. This research work proposes a rule-based training for artificial neural network packet filtering firewall. The developed neural network model is trained by generating samples from legacy firewall ruleset. Each rule has been converted to random training samples. All firewall's rules are used to generate the training sample data, rule by rule. The accuracy results show high accuracy with some behavior studies. The number of samples per rule, number of rules and rule style, including default rule and rule-scope effects, have been studied for the best accuracy results. This study also concludes the styles of firewall ruleset for the best accuracy of the proposed system.

    Service enhancement using resource evolutionary management

    Network services can be served to user requests when it has enough resources. But they cannot be served if the network does not have enough resources or knowledge, or they are new services. We introduce a new network management scheme, resource evolutionary management (REMan). It consists of four domains, user, managed, managing and supplier. All resources are classified into three classes; computing, place and knowledge. Place resources are storage and communication resources. Resource provider, in the managing domain, will do the provisioning function for managed domain. Resources, especially knowledge, are evolvable using the resource evolutionary algorithm. Service availability analysis has shown the enhancement of network services by increasing service availabilities in user service aspect. © 2001 IEEE.

    During system resource improvement process that based on Object-Oriented technology could be affect to the continuous system performance if lack appropriate management and control objects mechanism. This paper proposes a methodology to support continuous system performance and its stability. The adoption is based on Java Container Framework and Collections Framework for object collection. Also includes Software Engineering, Object Migration and Multiple Class Loaders mechanism accommodate to construct Continuous Migration Container (CMC). CMC is a runtime environment provides interfaces for management and control to support object equivalence checking object behavior and functional conformance method before object migration process while upgrading object. These operations are crucial for system stability and enhancement efficiency. ©2004IEEE.
