Item type:Publication, A multi-period linear programming model for the natural gas distribution network of Thailand(2022-01-01) ;Tuchinda, N. ;Moryadee, S.; As a consequence of the impending gas shortages from sources in the Gulf of Thailand, the country will be obliged to switch to imports of LNG to achieve energy security. The gas system of Thailand is constructed as a mathematical model. In the simulation, the output shows that reserves gas of Thailand is insufficient to face the demand in 2015–2036, while the consumption of natural gas reserves continues at a rate that indicates that LNG imports will become the primary supply in the future to meet rising demand. The linear programming approach indicates patterns in the supply of gas which will see imports of LNG expanding at a rate lower than that predicted in the plan, thus undercutting the figures for the 2021 MMSCFD under the Gas Plan. The programming described in this study, however, may serve as the foundation for further examinations of Thailand’s situation regarding energy security. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, APPLICATION OF BIM IN MEDICAL BUILDING CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS: BARRIER FACTORS AND SOLUTION STRATEGIES: A CASE STUDY OF CHENGDU MEDICAL BUILDING CONSTRUCTION PROJECT(2024-01-01) ;Chen, JiahaoIn recent years, the use of BIM software in clinical building tasks has been paid greater and extra attention. Taking Chengdu's scientific development mission as an example, this paper discusses the utility of BIM in scientific building projects and researches the impediment elements and answer strategies. This paper makes use of semi-structured interviews and literature evaluations to evaluate every influencing aspect earlier than by conducting quantitative research. After amassing facts via qualitative methods, an online questionnaire survey was once built in accordance with the interview consequences and previous lookup papers, and a number of factors blanketed in the online questionnaire had been comprehensively explained, and the software state of affairs and present issues of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in scientific development tasks have been summarized. The consequences of the lookup exhibit that the predominant boundaries to the positive adoption of BIM technological know-how in Medical Building Construction Projects (MBCPs) departments in Chengdu are multifaceted. First, issues from collaboration and verbal exchange stand out. These challenges are compounded with the aid of doubtful roles and obligations inside the mission team. This ambiguity now not solely hinders fantastic teamwork but also prevents BIM from seamlessly integrating with present workflows. Second, there are full-size boundaries to interoperability and compatibility problems between exclusive BIM software program applications. This incompatibility creates limitations to the clean alternate of records and data, leading to inefficiencies and plausible blunders in challenge execution. The large range of software programs used at one-of-a-kind degrees of MBCPs exacerbates this problem. Finally, the inherent complexity of BIM software programs and tools, coupled with the time-consuming and cumbersome BIM process, poses a big challenge. This complexity frequently leads to a reluctance amongst stakeholders to embody BIM technology. Given these findings, this study learns about the stage for future lookup and sensible interventions aimed at advertising wider acceptance and the tremendous use of BIM in the Medical Building Industry (MBI) and Construction Industry (CI). - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, LNG Portfolio Diversification Optimization Model of Thailand(2023-01-01) ;Tuchinda, Nutmethee ;Moryadee, Seksun; With the increase of reliance of LNG for Thailand, tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) are imported, however there is no report that describes the engagement by a mathematical model. This study constructed a mathematical model to analyze LNG supply of Thailand. Based on the outcome in 2022, the offered LNG supply pattern, which reduced the total LNG price, risk of politics and risk of maritime, exhibited that Malaysia, Brunei, and Australia are LNG exporter of Thailand. Additionally, when the demand of LNG in Thailand increase, the demand from Qatar does not increase due to the low competitiveness. Moreover, in the study of diversification, the details suggested the raking of suppliers that Thailand should import. The rank is as follows: Brunei, Malaysia, Australia, USA, and Trinidad & Tobacco. The study of the objective factors on the decision of Thailand shows that the risk associated with shipping is ineffective to Thailand’s LNG supply due to the geographical closeness of the supplier countries. However, the risk connected to the political of supplier nations is influenced by the decision of the supply. Furthermore, this study revealed the limitation of the research associated with the LNG supply of Thailand. Hence, the finding of this study not only presented the alternative policy of Thailand but also consolidated Thailand’s energy security. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Optimization-Based Train Timetables Generation with Demand Forecasting for Thailand High Speed Rail System(2021-09-01); ; ; ; Suwannatrai, ArkomIn this paper, we propose a timetable optimizer (TO) consisting of the following parts: 1) Demand Forecasting Module 2) Train Optimization Module 3) Timetable Generator Module. TO is a specialized system for planning the train timetable which designed to help solve the problem of determining the number of trains that are suitable and scheduling the train suitably according to the number of trains designated by the system. TO integrates the passenger data from the latest round trip or historical information and forecasts a number of passengers of high-speed trains based on historical data in order to find the optimal number of trains by using a mixed integer programing model. Lastly, the TO system can applies the number of trains to calculate the appropriate train schedule so that the planning cycle is complete. A case study of high-speed railway system in Thailand with 36 trains to satisfy demand of 35,000 passengers/ each direction is conducted. The results show that the proposed system can quickly generate a timetable having an optimal number of train with suitable time interval according to a demand forecasting. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A Multi-Objective Optimization Model for Solid Waste Disposal Under Uncertainty: A Case Study of Bangkok, Thailand(2017-03-01); This paper has applied operation research to solid waste disposal by which two objective functions are optimized to minimize the expected operational costs (maximize revenues) and the expected net carbon dioxide equivalent (CDE) emissions. Types and uncertain amounts of solid wastes as well as costs of electricity were factored into the selection decision of solid waste disposal, i.e., landfill, incineration, composting and recycling. An optimization model was applied to the solid waste disposal of Bangkok, Thailand. In addition, a multi-objective optimization technique was proposed for a trade-off decision-making between minimum operational costs and CDE emissions. Composting and landfill are effective alternatives for Bangkok’s solid waste disposal system. The operational costs and net CDE emissions are highly correlated with the quantity of solid waste. Policy makers and plant operators could adopt the proposed optimization model under uncertainty in the selection of an optimal solid waste disposal. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Application of BIM and Virtual Reality of System Integration Design and Development in Medical Building Projects: A Case Study in China(2024-07-01) ;Chen, JiahaoDesign outcomes in the Medical Building Projects (MBPs) must satisfy the demand of the medical staff and stakeholders. However, they often do not have the relevant engineering expertise, so the design team is prone to misunderstandings when communicating with them using traditional two-dimensional (2D) Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings. The medical staff may not readily visualize and understand the design and then provide feedback to the designer through professional medical requirements or advice, which results in the need to redesign and carry out additional work during the design phase, thus delaying the progress of the MBPs. To address these challenges, this study aims to develop an integrated system based on BIM, advanced rendering engines, and VR technology for use in non-immersive and immersive VR environments. Moreover, in this study, the integrated system was applied to the infection-building project of the People's Hospital of Qingbaijiang District, Chengdu City, and semi-structured interviews were distributed to 16 engineers, designers, contractors, and medical staff who had been involved in the whole project to validate the practicality and effectiveness of the integrated system. The results indicate that this system integration is an efficient visual communication and simulation tool in medical design. Key advantages include enhanced communication efficiency between the design team and medical stakeholders, improved visual interaction, and streamlined decision-making processes within a 3D VR/BIM environment. The successful implementation of this integrated system is expected to significantly aid design teams and stakeholders in effectively managing medical design tasks in future projects. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, How Key Success Factors Improve Delay Mitigation in Construction Projects: The Mediating Role of Project Readiness(2026-06-01) ;Lithanarung, Sophon; ;Ahmed, MukhtarConstruction projects continue to experience persistent schedule delays that adversely affect cost efficiency, quality, productivity, and stakeholder satisfaction. Although prior studies have extensively examined the causes of delays, limited empirical evidence explains how integrated managerial success conditions proactively improve delay mitigation capability. This study investigates the structural relationships among Key Success Factors (KSF), Project Readiness (PR), and Delay Mitigation (DM) in construction projects. The analysis primarily focuses on delay mitigation during the construction execution phase, where managerial capability and project readiness directly influence schedule performance and disruption response. A quantitative research design was employed using questionnaire data collected from 308 construction professionals in Thailand. KSF was conceptualized as a higher-order construct reflected by Project Execution Capability, Managerial and Digital Support, and Supply Chain Capability. Data was analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling. The findings indicate that KSF significantly enhances both Project Readiness and Delay Mitigation, while Project Readiness positively contributes to delay mitigation performance and partially mediates the relationship between managerial capability and project delay mitigation outcomes. The study provides an integrated capability-based framework and practical guidance for improving project delivery performance in uncertain construction environments. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A Study on High-Speed Rail Pricing Strategy for Thailand Based on Dynamic Optimal Pricing Model(2021-06-30); ; ; ; Moryadee, SeksunThe Bangkok–Nong Khai high-speed railway is the first high-speed line in Thailand and is currently under construction. The project is due to be completed by 2023, with ticket prices starting at 80 baht plus 1.8 baht per km which can be considered as a straight-line fare set with a fixed rate increase. Different from the current price policy, this paper examines the application of dynamic pricing to Thailand’s HSR. Dynamic Pricing Optimizer proposed in this paper is a unique system of dynamic pricing by considering the changes in the amount of service requirements and the time of purchasing tickets designed to solve the problem of pricing that is appropriate. First, The Dynamic Pricing Optimizer (DPO) system will integrate the user data from the latest trip or historical information. After that, there will be a forecast for users of high-speed trains based on historical data in order to create a demand function that is linear. After that, the price will be determined by the optimization method to find the most suitable price in order to maximize the revenue. Lastly, we compare both fare policies and found that The Dynamic Pricing policy can increase revenue up to 6.5%. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Sustainable Reduction of Soil Permeability through Microbial Bio-Clogging(2026-01-01); ;Chaisarn, Sumetha; Microbially induced bio-clogging presents a promising, sustainable alternative to conventional soil improvmeent methods for mitigating seepage in geotechnical applications. Despite its potential, uncertainties remain regarding the influence of bacterial concentration, culture medium application, and associated setting times under field-like conditions—factors which are critical to the effective deployment of this technology in practice. This study investigates the impact of bacterial bio-clogging on the hydraulic behaviour of coarse-grained soils, with particular emphasis on the system's performance during and following the cessation of culture medium supply. Laboratory experiments were conducted to assess the mechanisms of permeability reduction resulting from microbial colonisation and extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) production. Results demonstrate that bacterial adhesion and subsequent EPS accumulation lead to the progressive clogging of soil pores, causing a marked decline in saturated permeability. The observed reductions in permeability are comparable to those produced by traditional methods such as cement and bentonite grouting. This highlights the durability of the biofilm matrix and its ability to maintain hydraulic resistance in the absence of continued nutrient input. These findings contribute valuable insight into the viability of bio-clogging as a ground improvement strategy. By elucidating the relationship between bacterial activity, EPS production, and soil pore occlusion, this research advances the practical understanding required to optimise bio-mediated techniques for field-scale applications in sustainable geotechnical engineering.
