    GPS Data Analytics for the Assessment of Public City Bus Transportation Service Quality in Bangkok

    Evaluation of the quality of service (QoS) of public city buses is generally performed using surveys that assess attributes such as accessibility, availability, comfort, convenience, reliabilities, safety, security, etc. Each survey attribute is assessed from the subjective viewpoint of the service users. This is reliable and straightforward because the consumer is the one who accesses the bus service. However, in addition to summarizing personal feedback from humans, using data analytics has become another useful method for assessing the QoS of bus transportation. This work aims to use global positioning system (GPS) data to measure the reliability, accessibility, and availability of bus transportation services. There are three QoS scoring functions for tracking complete trips, on-path driving, and on-schedule operation. In the analytical process, GPS coordinates rounding is adopted and applied for detecting trips on each route path. After assessing the three QoS scores, it has been found that most bus routes have good operations with high scores, while some bus routes show room for improvement. Future work could use our data to create recommendations for policy makers in terms of how to improve a city’s smart mobility.

    Quantum cryptography via a wavelength router for internet security

    We propose a new system of quantum cryptography for internet security using Gaussian pulses propagating within a nonlinear ring resonator system, quantum processor, and a wavelength router. To increase the channel capacity and security, the multiplexer is operated incorporating a quantum processing unit via an optical multiplexer. The transmission part can be used to generate the high capacity quantum codes within the series of microring resonators and an add/drop filter. The receiver part can be communicated by using the quantum key (quantum bit, qubit) via a wavelength router and quantum processors. The reference states can be recognized by using the cloning unit, which is operated by the add/drop filter, where the communication between Alice and Bob can be performed. Results obtained have shown that the correlated photons can be generated and formed the entangled photon pair, which is allowed to form the secret key between Alice and Bob. In application, the embedded system within the computer processing unit is available for quantum computer. Furthermore, such a concept is also available for internet application via hybrid communications, for instance, wire/wireless, satellite, which can be used to form the internet security. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

    Web attack detection using chromatography-like entropy analysis
    Web services are mostly attacked in various ways directly and indirectly. We calculate the Shannon entropy from web server log files, especially access logs, and then estimate the entropy distance to detect intrusions and identified them by distinct attack word lists as general, cross-site script, and SQL injection attacks. The experiment shows that our proposed chromatography-like entropy analysis method can detect and identify these behaviors.

    Novel quantum-molecular transporter and networking via a wavelength router

    We propose a new system of a molecular-quantum networking using the optical tweezers, where the transportation of molecules via wavelength router and network can be performed. In addition, the molecule transportation states can be identified by using the quantum states of the transporters, which can be formed in the network. The proposed fabricated material used is InGaAsP/InP, which can provide the required output signals. The design system consists of a nonlinear microring/nanoring resonator system incorporating an add/ drop filter and a wavelength router. The transporter can be formed by the dark soliton, and the optical transporter is tuned and amplified by the bright soliton and transmitted into the network. In applications, the use of the proposed system incorporating a nanoscale communication and networking via wavelength router is available for long-distance link. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

    Dynamic pulse reshaping generation using coherent control for ultra fast switching use

    In this letter, we present a new technique for pulse shaping, whereas the dynamic pulse reshaping of the dark-bright soliton conversion is investigated and seen during the propagation within an add/drop filter. The dark soliton pulse is reshaped by adjusting bright soliton input, whose dispersions are adjusted to be cancelled. This technique exploits the well known property of the ultrafast pulse in which the desired output can be stored and form in the same manner of the adiabatic light pulse (cold light). This technique presents inherent advantages of fast light pulse, whereas the fast in time of 1 ns is noted. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

    Microring Switching Control Using Plasmonic Ring Resonator Circuits for Super-Channel Use

    The multi-wavelength selection and switching system using the hybrid plasmonic add-drop ring resonator (HPARR) for optical communication is proposed for multi-carrier super-channel-based designed. The plasmonic polariton technique applied in the ring resonator mode to the alternate waveguide interferometer switches the multi-wavelength laser emission in the various ranges. The combination of curvature-coupled plasmon ring and substances with different refractive index allows switching the multi-wavelength emission to shorter the free spectrum range (FSR) and specific wavelengths, without an applied pump signal or adjusted the ring size. It is suitable for the super-channel of wavelength division multiplex (WDM) in the future optical network.
