    GUIDELINES FOR DRIVING BUSINESS SECTOR INTO DIGITAL TRANSACTIONS FOR BUSINESS SURVIVAL: A CASE STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 TO SMES BUSINESS IN THAILAND

    The purposes of this research are to study SMEs’ level of digital literacy for digital financial transactions and the level of impact of digital transactions on SMEs’ business transactions and to investigate the effect of digital literacy and competence for digital transactions on the impact of digital transactions on SMEs’ business operations. Employing questionnaires and interviews as tools, the research finds that overall digital literacy, competence and capability are perceived to be at mid-level. The impact of digital transactions on SMEs businesses is high, while the overall impact of the COVID-19 pandemic situation on SMEs businesses is at the highest level. Moreover, the research finds that digital literacy, competence, capability, and digital transaction literacy influence the impact of digital transactions on SMEs’ business operations. Altogether, they can forecast 40.7 % of the impact. Digital transaction literacy, digital competence and capability influence the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Altogether, they can forecast 61.6 % of the impact. The research proposes four ways to encourage SMEs to adopt digital transactions for business continuity: 1) promotion of SMEs’ literacy for digital financial management 2) promotion of the development of digital innovation for financial transactions, including a support system and updates 3) promotion of data analysis and management technology 4) legal overhaul of agencies overseeing financial institutions.

    Structural equation model of the adoption of ozone generator technology by thai industries

    Ozone is second only to fluorine as the most powerful oxidant in the world. It's the most powerful, natural air and water sanitizer readily available and can break down chemicals into their basic naturally-occurring component parts. The objectives of this study were therefore, to test a model of technology adoption used in the ozone generator industry in Thailand. Self-reporting questionnaires were retrieved from 500 production and engineering managers in both central and eastern Thailand enterprises from a total of 3,000 distributed. The research framework integrates Corporate Vision, Awareness, Interest, Evaluation and Trial to hypothesize a theoretical model to explain and predict adoption of ozone generator technology. All latent variables in the model have a positive influence on the adoption of Thai ozone generator technology. The model furthermore consisted of 18 observed variables with a variable latency of 6 variables which had a positive influence on the adoption of ozone generator technology. The final structural model was verified to achieve a good fit with the empirical data at 65% because of the decision to use new products in ozone generator technology. Using LISREL 8.72 Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the results showed that that the variables that influence technology use the most are Adoption, followed by Interest and Evaluation, followed by Trial, Awareness and Corporate Vision having the effects of 0.73, 0.53, 0.42, 0.31 and 0.23, respectively.

    A Study on the Use of Blockchain Technology to Prevent and Detect Corruption in Thailand’s Government Procurement Process

    This study aims to propose several recommendations for adopting blockchain to government procurement and for solving corruption. The results of the study can be summarized as: readiness of blockchain technology can prevent corruption and the level of readiness of blockchain adoption for government procurement and for solving corruption is low. The study proposes developing a blockchain system and a smart contract system in the selection of committees to enhance transparency via online grading both in the selection procedure and procurement projects, to undergo online e-government procurement training, and to develop an online grading system for the committees.

    Milestones in intellectual property rights promotion (Trademark) and OTOP Business in Thailand under the public concept of "Pracharat"

    This research has three objectives. They are 1) to study promotion levels of Trademark and One Tambon One Product (OTOP) Business in Thailand under the concept of Pracharat, 2) to study factors influencing the promotion of Trademark and OTOP Business in Thailand under the concept of Pracharat, and 3) to study and propose guidelines for promoting Trademark and OTOP Business in Thailand under the concept of Pracharat. The study was conducted by qualitative and quantitative research methods. The sample group was OTOP entrepreneurs in five pilot provinces from four regions, totalling 2,000 people. The key informants were those who played an important role in managing the OTOP product. Research tools were questionnaires and interview forms. The research revealed that opinions on promoting Trademark and OTOP Business in Thailand under Pracharat concept were at a moderate level. When considering each ground, the first opinion was about the rights of OTOP trademark owners. Other factors were also found including accessing production factors, administration, knowledge management, communication and awareness for sustainability, respectively. Such variables can presumably foresee the promotion of Trademark and OTOP Business in Thailand under the concept of Pracharat, by 74.5 percent. Milestones in Intellectual Property Rights Promotion (Trademark) and OTOP Business in Thailand under the Public Concept "Pracharat" include value added creation and product development, and improvement of trademark protection regulations in the current situation.

    International networking capability on international marketing performance of Thai garment entrepreneur in CLMV market

    This research had an objective to study an influence of the international networking capability on the international marketing performance of Thai garment industry in CLMV markets. Data were collected from the entrepreneurs, company owner and international affairs manager of garment industry 204 cases using multiple regression analysis. The research’s result showed the factors in the international networking capability that had the influence on the international marketing performance comprising 3 factors as partner knowledge, relation skills, and coordination respectively. These 3 factors had the positive influence on the international marketing performance. Referring to the research findings, we recommended that in case the entrepreneurs required being in CLMV markets, they should emphasize the importance of partner knowledge mostly. Reasoning, the rules, and regulations relating to the foreign entrepreneurs in CLMV markets were inadequately encouraged.

    GUIDELINES FOR PROMOTING UNDERSTANDING OF BLOCKCHAIN'S INFLUENCE ON BUSINESS OPERATIONS IN SERVICE SECTOR

    The objective of this study is to investigate the level of understanding of blockchain technology for businesses in the service sector and the level of impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector, with the further aim of recommending readiness planning for the impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector. The outcome of the study revealed that participants perceived the overall level of impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector to be at mid-level. However, almost half of the participants were unsure about the level of impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector. The issue about which most participants were uncertain was if the application of blockchain technology in businesses in the service sector could facilitate their work or coordination with suppliers. 58.40% of participants were unsure about this issue. Furthermore, the outcome of the study showed that understanding blockchain technology influenced the impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector and could forecast 61.4% of the impact. As for readiness planning for the impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector, it can be recommended that operators prepare their personnel and human resources, both in terms of numbers and capacity, to respond to changing trends in the market as well as basic understanding about blockchain technology. Operators should also prepare their business infrastructure by setting up a system to develop blockchain technology for management work within their organizations.

    DEVELOPMENT OF A STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODEL OF THE VARIABLES AFFECTING THE ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF THE MASS RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEMS OF THAILAND

    Introduction: The development of the Thai transport system in the future must be based on the advancement of three aspects: personnel, technology, and research and development must be promoted for the operation of efficient innovative tools and management as key mechanisms in the transport system’s development. The master plan of the Ministry of Transport under Strategy 5 for the development of the Thai transport system within 20 years (2017-2036) stated about the need for and initiation of technology and innovation, as well as the promotion of research and development for the application of rapid advancements within these aspects so to develop the transport infrastructure and management, which would engender higher efficiency of future transport as well. Technology is required and is suitable for the analysis and evaluation of performance in the view of safety technological innovation for subway station construction. Objective: The main objective was to explore the development, congruence, and the indirect direct, and total effects of the variables affecting the organizational performance of the mass rapid transit systems of Thailand Method: This is quantitative research, collecting data from 385 executives and chiefs of organizations relating to the mass railway transit systems and private manufacturers participating in the project with state enterprise agencies. Result: Relationship between the two variables and among the multiple variables in conjunction with the estimation of the effects of the variables, which were obtained from the regression coefficients (coef.) of each individual relationship path following the hypothesis. The results indicated that all C.R. (t-test) values were statistically significant (> 1.96). Thus, every hypothesis was supported. Technology directly affects organizational performance (coef. = 0.143, p < 0.05). Technology directly affects innovation (coef. = 0.370, p < 0.001). Technology directly affects research and development (coef. = 0.786, p < 0.001). Research and development directly affects innovation (coef. = 0.624, p < 0.001). Research and development directly affects organizational performance (coef. = 0.449, p < 0.001). Innovation directly affects organizational performance (coef. = 0.372, p < 0.01). Conclusion: Technology, innovation, and research and development truly affect organizational performance. The industrial sector should be more encouraged to participate in technology learning and to step into the manufacturing chain for the development of Thailand’s rail transport system. This would also save foreign currency, create employment opportunities in the country, and have continual economic effects for the national monetary circulation, which would eventually pave the way to the enhancement as well as development of the people’s abilities in the future.

    Antecedents to creating shared value at thai waste-to-energy facilities

    In 2015, 1.2 billion people, or 16% of the global population, did not have access to electricity. Simultaneously, solid waste generation reached 200 million tons annually, and is projected to exceed 11 million tons per day by 2100. Solutions must hence be found, with Waste-to-Energy conversion a strong but controversial and costly contender. By use of cluster sampling, a sample of 361 individuals was obtained, from which a confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model was undertaken using LISREL 9.1. All causal factors in the model were shown to have a positive influence on the creation of shared value of the Waste-to-Energy Power Plant and the local community, with 68% of the variance of the factor affecting the creation of shared value. Ranked in importance, the variables were government policy, the Waste-to-Energy operators and community participation, with a total score of 0.83, 0.37 and 0.36, respectively.

    Electronic waste: The social and environmental importance of Thai teenager consumer awareness

    According to the United Nations 42 million metric tonnes of e-waste were generated around the globe in 2014 which represented some US$52 billion of potentially reusable resources referred to as the ‘urban mine’, little of which however was collected for recovery. The importance of the proper disposal of e-waste and its hazardous effects to the environment and humans is little understood as well. Electronic Waste which represented seven percent of the world’ s e-waste is different from general waste as there are many diverse and complex parts including heavy metals and hazardous substances such as lead, mercury, and cadmium. Improper handling and disposal can cause significant harm to the environment as well as pose a health hazard to humans. Solid waste management is a complex task which requires the use of advanced technology and specialized process controls. Most e-waste facilities are using aged equipment and techniques which must be upgraded to international standards. Over the years many countries have embraced an Extended Producer Responsibility but today more is needed as the problem has reached unsustainable levels. Stronger legislation in the form of Thailand’s WEEE Management Act unfortunately is tied up in a bureaucratic process with many levels of approval necessary before it can be enacted. One possible solution is the education of the consumer segment most likely to be using these devices, teenagers. Reaching out to teenagers to understand the environmental and human health effects of the improper disposal of discarded, toxic e-waste is a possible solution for the future. Governmental regulation alone will not be adequate to curb the mindless disposal but instead must be supplemented with an education campaign at the earliest stages of consumption, the teenager. This therefore is the reasons for the proposed study.

    Perceptions on ozonation water treatment use: An alternative idea for ASEAN water resource sustainability

    Ozonation (or ozonisation) is a chemical water treatment technique based on the infusion of ozone into water. As early as 1893, this process was used in Europe for the treatment of drinking water and as recently as 2014, the most modern ozone water treatment facility in the world was brought online to protect the waters of Switzerland's Lake Geneva. However, studies vary widely in conditions leading to ozone technology use, and the subsequent factors concerning its effectiveness. From a population of 7,006 Thai industrial estate companies, a sample of 500 executives, managers, and engineers was drawn which completed an 80-item survey which was analysed by use of a structural equation model using LISREL 8.72. Results showed that acceptance had the greatest influence on ozonation treatment technology use, while the remaining five latent variables (ranked in importance) included curiosity, provisional trial, testing, cognizance, and strategy.
