    Structural influence line analysis program based on python

    Analysis of influences line in structures that are complex or indeterminate will make the analysis difficult and time-consuming. Therefore, the researchers have developed an application to analyze beam structures in 2 dimensions that easy to use, convenient, and uncomplicated. In this research, the Double integration method and the Singularity function method are used to analyze the structure. Furthermore, Python is used to develop all of the instructions in Object-oriented programming (OOP) application development. The developed application is capable to analyze the influence lines of structures and display the results in form of animation to show load displacement and structural response. Moreover, it was incorporated with analysis to show basic structural diagrams such as bending, shear, and deflection diagrams. In the final word, this application will be a handy tool for better visualization and investigation behaviors of structures in actual design work.

    Seismic Retrofit of RC Building with Elastic Stage of Buckling-Restrain Braces

    Seismic retrofit of a reinforced concrete (RC) building using a buckling-restrained brace is an innovative method to improve the seismic performance of the existing RC buildings to resist damage from the future earthquake. This research proposes a simple method to retrofit RC buildings with buckling-restrained braces (BRBs). A 4-story school reinforced concrete building in Thailand is selected as a target building. The analysis results of the existing RC building indicate that the structure cannot withstand the seismic force under the newest code, which was published in 2021. There were failures at the columns of the 1<sup>st</sup>–3<sup>rd</sup> floors, in which lateral displacements exceeded the current seismic design standard. After retrofitting the target building by the proposed method with BRBs, it was found that the lateral displacements are reduced and the target RC building can withstand the seismic demand of the newest code. Therefore, the retrofitted building can be resisted future earthquakes. This shows the effectiveness of the introduced retrofit method.

    Numerical Modelling for Energy Absorption of Reinforced Concrete Barriers Covered with Natural Rubber

    Due to the oversupplying, applications of natural rubber are widely introduced in Thailand. In this research, a deployment of natural rubber with typical road safety concrete barrier is investigated numerically. There are many various kinds of barriers to be used not only to prevent vehicles from collision with an opposite vehicle but also to protect from roadside hazards. Therefore, nonlinear finite element modelling was employed to investigate the more efficiencies of barrier covered with rubber sheets by means of finite element analysis. The three-dimensional model is involved with three different homogeneous materials under static analysis while applying an area load representing a car colliding to the barrier. The results have shown that barrier with rubbers can absorb impact force from the vehicles.

    An Improvement on Heat Reduction in a Lightweight Composite Roof Material

    The objective of this research is to improve heat reduction in a lightweight composite roof material. This research has studied and compared roofing material with opening for ventilation and without opening. A comprehensive model is simulated from computational fluid dynamics simulation of a finite element software. The simulation considered three aspects of heat transfer which are heat conduction, heat convection and radiation. The simulation result showed that the roofing material with opening for ventilation can reduce temperature in the composite roof about 20%

    Development of Effective Lightweight Material for Construction Building.

    Due to an increasing trend of building construction in Thailand. Lightweight concrete has been recently introduced into the structural engineering applications. This study was aimed to investigate two aspects; the first one is studying the properties of Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC) and verifying that the lightweight concrete satisfies Thai Industrial Standard (TIS Standard) [12]. To verify with the TIS Standard, investigated properties of CLC are dry unit weight, water absorption and compressive strength. Researcher prepared admixtures with sand cement ratio (S/C), water cement ratio (W/C) and percentage of foam to collect statistical data and analyse. Verified by the standard, specimens that pass the standard criteria will be chosen for proper applications in manufacturing of prefabricated construction materials.

    Crash energy absorption aspects of reinforced concrete barriers with natural rubber sheet

    These days, vehicles are widely developed because of the latest technology. As a result, roadside barriers are used not only to minimize the speed of vehicles but also to prevent crossing into the opposite lanes. Many technologies are used to improve the strength of barriers. On the other hand, the production of natural rubber in Thailand is higher than in other Asian countries. The ministry of transportation is focusing on using rubber in roadside barriers. Therefore, in this study, three different types of vehicles with 920, 1575, and 2013 kg at a constant velocity of 35 mph for frontal impact were used to compare the strength of reinforced concrete barriers with and without natural rubber by using non-linear dynamic finite element analysis. Results proved that the barriers with rubber sheets stored energy absorption better than those without rubber sheets.

    A Study of Recycle Cellular Lightweight Concrete as Coarese Aggregates in Concrete Bricks.

    This research aims to apply the aggregate material in concrete blocks with Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC), which is a waste from CLC manufacturing. Even though, this type of lightweight concrete has less compressive strength than ordinary concrete block. But it has advantageous properties such as heat insulation, Sound insulation, light weight, and ability to trimmed. Moreover, recycling the waste can reduce the impacts on environment. By experiment the ratio of CLC concrete fragment in concrete blocks as a coarse aggregate. The researchers compared the properties of ordinary concrete blocks with CLC mixed concrete blocks according to the non-load-bearing concrete standards (TIS 58-2533) [1]. The results show that dry unit weight is inversely variation to specimens (1) ordinary concrete block, (2) concrete block with CLC passed sieve no. 4 and (3) no. 8 respectively. Compressive strength is directly variation to dry unit weight. And water absorption is inversely variation to dry unit weight. Finally, the specimens that passed the standard criterias are ordinary and mixed CLC passed sieve no. 4. There are samples also can be improved in construction technology and reduce environmental impact.

    Development of a reinforced concrete design application by Python

    The design of reinforced concrete structures is the foundation of civil engineering. Nowadays, a large number of computer programs are used for structural analysis and design but those programs are expensive to get licenses including unknown sources of information. In this research, the purpose is to develop an application that can design reinforced concrete structures according to ACI 318-95 standard based on residential reinforced concrete structures. Furthermore, Python is used to develop all of the procedures. The developed application is capable to receive data from analytical programs, design and display the result as graphics. Moreover, it can be printed as an efficient construction drawing being convenient for the users. Finally, this research will be an alternative for users who are interested to use a free and accurate application to design reinforced concrete structures.

    Investigation the behaviors of vibrations waves from high-speed train modelling

    Railway transportation is important for public transportation in Thailand like Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). Therefore, the organization of national development has objective to develop in railway transportation. Moreover, they are planning to build railway in Thailand to connect between ASEAN and China. There are many researchers who studied about the railway transportation infrastructure by using various methods. However, in this studies, waves of high-speed train were investigated by using different velocities into force and free vibration equations from structural dynamic. Then the results showed that shorter range was happened due to the vibration waves of high-speed trains than waves of low-speed ones. Finally, finite element software was used to get characteristics of the waves. The results proved that the vibrations waves were strong at first 1-5meter, however, at the distances of 5-15meter waves were decreased significantly in intensity. It was reduced to the end or there was no effect at the distance more than 18meter waves from the wave source.
