    A Study and Development of Working Environment to Increase the Work Efficiency of People with Physical Disabilities: A Case Study of Major Retail and Wholesale Companies in Bangkok

    This research aimed to alleviate problems of environments and facilities of people with disabilities in retail and wholesale companies within the area of Bangkok, Thailand by applying the concept of universal design to enhance their environment. The data were collected by using interviews, questionnaires, and observation. The results were applied to a design process based on the needs of people with physical disabilities and addressed solving their work problems, increasing their work effectiveness. Testing was conducted to compare pretest and post-test results using designed products to evaluate the work effectiveness of the people with physical disabilities using statistical analysis (paired t-tests). The results using developed products showed a higher average post-test score than pre-test. The average score of pre-test and post-test had a value of X = 13.0667, SD =2.93906 and X = 14.667, SD = 2.6903, and this supported the research hypothesis.

    Instructional design integrated with quality function deployment(QFD) and TRIZ40

    This paper concentrates on the development of instructional design integrated with Quality Function Deployment(QFD) and TRIZ40 principles model. This paper draws from the research study which aimed to investigate the development of instructional design integrated with QFD and TRIZ40 principles model for the Design Education Program in the Faculty of Industrial Education at King Mongkut's institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok, Thailand. The research methodology was a mix methods. The sample groups were composed of 5 lecturers and 100 Undergraduate students of the Design Education Program. The research methods were questionnaires and focus group technique. The statistics used were frequency, percentage, arithmetic means, and standard deviation. The research found that there are 3 steps of instructional design development integrated with QFD and TRIZ40 principles model. The first step was a learning and acceptation process. The second was to develop the instructional design, which was integrated with QFD and TRIZ40 principles model for the Design Education courses. The last step was evaluation on students' learning and satisfaction. Based on evaluation of the instructional design experts, the instructional design, which was integrated with QFD and TRIZ40 principles model was highly appropriate for undergraduate students in the Design Education Program. This study reviewed that lecturers and students' satisfaction with the instructional design integrated with QFD and TRIZ40 were also high because it was easy to utilize. Moreover, it was very effective to evaluate their progress throughout their learning process. Undergraduate students learn with Model of Instructional Design integrated with QFD and TRIZ40 principles for Design Education in Undergraduate Study Level. Have higher achievement scores than Learning in normal/regular classroom with a statistical significance level of 0.05. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications Switzerland.

    Innovative Application Software for Tourism Safety in World Heritage Site Si Satchanalai Historical Park
    Implementations of safety measures ranked among major concerns for all involving parties in tourism industry-from both the public and private sectors and civil society-since they these procedures could generate either positive or negative effects on livelihood in a community, economic progress, social practice, and physicality of the built environment. Today, as information technology (IT) had increasingly been integrated with travel activities, this paper presented an exploratory research on an application software for tourism safety, experimented at the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Si Satchanalai Historical Park in Thailand. In effect, the aims of the Smart World Heritage Si Satchanalai Application (SWHSA) were to supply tourists with a customizable, diversified, and cost-effective cybernetic means to conceive and organize their travel planning, which could be tailored to suit particular needs of the users according to their: 1) travel durations; 2) types of leisure activities; and 3) numbers of attractions preferred to see in a certain length of time. As shown by the upcoming analytical and evaluative discussions, the said criteria were specified by the distance, in conjunction with variety and distribution of places intended to visit per day by the users. Altogether, the investigations on SWHSA demonstrated its values in terms of an interactive IT model that provided multifaceted information-which not only: 1) helped the inhabitants and state authority in Si Satchanalai monitor and respond to evolving situations on tourism safety in real time; and 2) enabled travelers to expediently plan their trips as they desired.

    Expressions of Local Identity via Architectural Practice in UNESCO World Heritage Sites
    Via its investigations on three types of buildings, consisting of residential, religious, and educational structures, this research: (1) provides guidelines for the creation of local identity via architecture erected in the areas adjacent to UNESCO World Heritage sites; and (2) examines the mechanism in creating such an identity. As exhibited by the upcoming discussions, the economic, social, cultural and technological conditions are central not only for practical requirements and structural integrity of those buildings, but also for expressions of the local identity. In addition to maintaining a delicate balance between aesthetics, architectural realization, and local wisdom, the creations of the case studies engage all involving parties in the following five domains as well, which are: (1) generation of public consciousness; (2) design participation; (3) establishment of Heritage Academic Research Community; (4) recognitions for the values of the Thai identity; and (5), creative integration of stakeholders with community networks.
