Item type:Publication, CubeSat image transmission in JPEG compression: An experiment on high altitude platform(2016-03-23); ; ;Sukchalerm, PolkitPlodpai, AniwatCubeSat is a type of picosatellite which is developed with the purposes of promoting and development the skills necessary for the design, manufacturing, and testing of small satellites in the future. This paper presents our work on CubeSat design and development which focuses on JPEG compression and transmission to ground station. And this paper also uses the high altitude balloon to verify CubeSat functions as it is low cost experiments but can provide conditions similar to spacelike: pressure, temperature, air density as well as distance for communication. This paper will discuss the testing result of CubeSat on high altitude balloon to examine functions, verify link budget and signal strength in stratosphere at maximum altitude of 24 kilometers. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Internet network in space for small satellites: Concept and experiments(2018-01-01); ;Sukchalerm, Polkit ;Wongphuangfuthaworn, Natthapong ;Plodpai, AniwatManuthasna, ShariffCurrently, no wireless network service is being offered in space. This fact has caused satellite developers to establish their own wireless network with a low coverage area that does not function very well. These problems can be resolved by setting up an effective wireless network that can be offered as a service to satellites in orbit. This study is focused on designing a high-quality wireless-in-space network to connect satellites in orbit to the Internet. Such a network would enable satellites to be controlled through the Internet from the Earth without having their own ground stations. In this paper, various aspects of the design of a network setup standard are discussed. These aspects include appropriate wireless communication and the construction of a model satellite that can be connected to the network from space. The work also included testing the design by setting up the Internet network for use above Thailand's territory and launching the original model satellite for the demonstration of the principle. The sensor data was then transmitted in real time to audiences from all over the country and used to design an Internet network in space with global coverage, which is a target for further development. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Suitable altitude for long-operated communication high altitude balloon with experimental flights(2016-03-23); ; ;Sukchalerm, PolkitWongphuangfuthaworn, NatthapongHigh Altitude Platform (HAP) is a platform for many purposes e.g. remote sensing, communication, science experiment etc. Several countries are likely interested in research and development of HAP for communication since it combines the benefits of terrestrial and satellite systems. The objective of this paper is to find the suitable altitude to operate zero-pressure balloons, a type of high altitude platform which maintainable of desired altitude, for longest duration. This paper presents an experiment of zero-pressure balloon including design and development. The main parameters considered in this study are wind data and RF propagation. The wind data has been collected from several sources: from daily weather balloons recorded for 5 years and from the experimental balloon flights. This paper will discuss the suitable altitude for operating the zero-pressure balloons for longest duration without any control system. This paper shall also recommend altitude for further study.
