Item type:Publication, Evaluation of bioactivities of Delonix regia extracts from different regions of Thailand(2018-01-01)This research is to study bioactivity of Delonix regia flower and leaf extracts collected in Thailand. We analyzed for efficacy of free radical scavenging and found that flower and leaf extracts from Samut Prakan showed the strongest percentage of reduction with IC50 50.21 and 105.0 mg/ml, respectively. The result of evaluated phytochemicals revealed that Chon Buri's flower extract had the highest of total phenolic and tannin contents at 200 mg GAE/g extract and 32 mg TAE/g extract, respectively. Furthermore, Samut Prakan's flower extract had the highest flavonoid compounds at 328.5 mg QE/g extract. To examine cytotoxicity on breast cancer cell lines, we found that Samut Prakan's flower extract had the most cytotoxicity CC50 value, 5000 µg/ml. In conclusion, we found that the flower of Delonix regia is the promising part for the further study because the antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity strongly enhances when flower extract concentration is increased. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Aerial parts extracts(2021-01-01)This research aims to study bioactivity of aerial parts extract from four cultivars of banana; Musa sp. that has been multipurpose plant in Thailand. The determination of phytochemical exhibited that Musa (AA) ‘Lep Mue Nang’ extract had the highest contents of flavonoid and tannin as 515.69 mg QE/g extract and 874.93 mg TAE/g extract, respectively, whereas Musa (AA) ‘Khai’ extract presented the highest level of total phenolic content as 958.49 mg GAE/g extract. Analyzed the efficacy of free radical scavenging by using DPPH radical scavenging assay reveal that the highest antioxidant activity found in Musa (AA) ‘Khai’ extract showed IC50 at 5.76 mg/ml. Cytotoxicity studied of extracts against HeLa cell line by MTT assay at the maximum concentration 10000 μg/ml found that Musa (AA) ‘Khai’ extract had the most cytotoxicity at 82.08%. According to the bioactivities results, Musa (AA) ‘Khai’ extract has potential for remedy aspects to add value of this plant. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, BIOACTIVITIES EVALUATION OF THE USELESS PARTS OF ACACIA AURICULIFORMIS EXTRACTS(2022-01-01)This research aims to study bioactivity of leaf, inflorescence and branch extracts from Acacia auriculiformis that has been used as forest plantation in Thailand. The extracts were evaluated of antioxidant activities by DPPH scavenging method, branch extract gave the best 50 percent Inhibition Concentration (IC50) at 19.36 mg/ml. To find out total phenolic contents, branch extract had the highest total phenolic contents at 597.22 mg GAE/g extract. Antibacterial studied of extracts against five bacterial strains; Escherichia coli TISTR 780, Staphylococcus aureus TISTR 1466, Micrococcus luteus TISTR 2374, Bacillus cereus TISTR 687 and Xanthomonas campestrispv.campestris TISTR 2065. The result of antibacterial activity using agar well diffusion method was found that all of extracts could not inhibit the growth ofE. coliwhileleaf, inflorescence and branch extract could inhibit the growth ofother four bacterial strains S. aureus, M. luteus B. cereus and X. campestrispv campestris. And MIC studied found thatinflorescence extract used the lowest concentration to inhibit the growth ofS. aureus, M. luteus, B. cereus and X. campestrispv campestris. According to the bioactivities results, branch and inflorescence extracts of A. auriculiformis have potential for remedy aspects to add value of this plant. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, INVESTIGATION OF BIOACTIVITIES FROM CASSIA FISTULA LINN. EXTRACTS(2025-01-01)This study explores the bioactivities of Cassia fistula Linn. (commonly known as the golden shower tree) by comparing the antioxidant, antibacterial, and cytotoxic properties of pod and seed ethanol extracts collected from Chonburi and Samut Prakan provinces in Thailand. The antioxidant potential was assessed through DPPH radical scavenging assay, where pod extracts exhibited higher activity than seed extracts, with IC₅₀ values of 0.98 and 1.09 mg/ml, respectively. The total phenolic content was highest in seed extracts from Samut Prakan (205.00 mg GAE/g extract), followed closely by pod extracts from Chonburi (167.50 mg GAE/g extract). Antibacterial screening via agar disc diffusion method showed that all extracts had significant inhibitory activity against gram positive; Bacillus subtilis and Micrococcus luteus. Samut Prakan pod extract inhibit M. luteus better than gentamicin. Cytotoxicity tests against MCF-7 breast carcinoma cells indicated that all extracts were non-toxic, and some even promoted cell viability, suggesting safety for potential therapeutic applications. These findings suggest that Cassia fistula, particularly its pod extracts, is a promising natural source candidate for future development in health-related applications. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, THE EVALUATION OF BIOACTIVITIES OF BAUHINIA PURPUREA EXTRACTS(2024-01-01)Bioactivity studies were conducted on extracts of Bauhinia purpurea obtained from its leaf, seed, and bark, focusing on their inhibition of growth in five bacterial species: Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Micrococcus luteus TISTR 9341, Salmonella typhimurium TISTR 0562, Clostridium sporogenes TISTR 549, and Streptococcus thermophilus TISTR 894. Initial testing at a concentration of 50 mg/ml revealed that all extracts inhibited all five bacterial strains, especially leaf and bark extract against M. luteus and S. typhimurium. While at higher concentration of 100 mg/ml, leaf and bark extract gave the best result against M. luteus. And seed extract inhibited C. sporogenes and S. typhimurium. Further analysis showed that the total phenolic content varied among the extracts, with leaf, bark, and seed extracts containing 35.5, 211.7, and 35.7 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE) per gram of extract, respectively. Assessment of free radical scavenging activity using the DPPH assay indicated the highest antioxidant activity in seed extract with the lowest IC50 value. Cytotoxicity studies against human lung cancer cell lines using the MTT assay demonstrated that the seed extract exhibited the highest cytotoxicity, with a CC50 value of 4.00 µg/ml. The results of antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity indicated that higher extract concentrations correlated with increased bioactivity. Based on these findings, the seed extract of Bauhinia purpurea emerged as the most promising candidate for further investigation due to its significant bioactivity profile, suggesting potential applications in medicinal contexts. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, EVALUATION OF BIOACTIVITIES OF EICHHORNIA CRASSIPES PARTS EXTRACTS(2023-01-01)The aims of this research to study bioactivity of leaf, stolon and root extracts from Eichhornia crassipes that is an alien plant in Thailand. The determination of phytochemical exhibited that! leaf extract had the highest of flavonoid and tannin as 207.60 mg QE/g extract and 72.40 mg TAE/g extract, respectively. And root extract showed the highest level of anthocyanin as 17.53 mg cyanidin-3-glucoside/ l extract, while total phenolic contents not significant between leaf, root and stolon extract. To analyze antioxidant activity found that stolon extract had the highest scavenging activity that IC50 was 3.23 mg/ml. The antibacterial activity exhibited that stolon extract had the lowest minimum bactericidal concentration than other two extracts against Pseudomonas aeruginosa TISTR 781, Escherichia coli TISTR 780, Staphylococcus aureus TISTR 1466 and Yersinia enterocolitica. According to the phytochemicals and bioactivities results, stolon and leaf extracts of E. crassipes have potential for remedy and health care aspects to add value of this plant.
