Item type:Publication, Integrating Corpus-based Methods to Determine Grammatical Topics for Teaching English Writing in the Thai Context(2025-06-01); Grammatical knowledge for effective English writing remains a significant need among Thai university students, while identifying the relevant grammatical topics to address this need continues to be a challenge in teaching writing courses. Previous papers on writing in Thai universities have mainly focused on writing performance issues, rather than proposing methods to address these issues, particularly in grammar. This quantitative case study employed corpus analyses to determine the relevant grammatical topics that address the grammatical needs of a specific group of Thai university students in English writing. ChatGPT was utilized to improve the essays of the target students, resulting in two datasets (namely, students’ essays and refined essays). Keyword analysis was employed to illustrate their grammatical characteristics. Biber’s (1988; 1989) multidimensional analysis and key part-of-speech analysis were applied to verify the keyword findings and determine the target grammatical topics for teaching writing. The analyses revealed 12 significant grammatical features that address the grammatical needs of the target students in English writing (namely, nominalizations, determiners, present participial clauses, prepositional phrases, attributive adjectives, conjuncts, independent clause coordination, phrasal coordination, past participial clauses, that relative clauses in the subject position, adverbial subordinators, and sentence relatives). These features can make the students’ writing compositions informational, narrative, and formal, reflecting the characteristics of academic language. This paper provides procedures for identifying grammatical topics that are aligned with the current grammatical needs of students in writing. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Opinions on Raising Finishing Pigs of Smallholder Farmers at Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat District in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province(2021-05-01); The research aimed to study: 1) general information of smallholder farmers and finishing pig raising conditions, 2) opinions of the farmers on raising finishing pigs at Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The research population was a group of 172 finishing pig farmers at Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The sample of 120 were selected using a multistage sampling formula in which reliability and validity assessed questionnaires were used. The results showed that 55% of the samples are female farmers approximately aged 58 years old, with primary education, raising pigs as the main career with an average monthly income at 23,588 Baht and average monthly farming expense at 11,599 Baht. The opinions in descending order were farming area (= 4.67), distribution and returns (= 4.35), current raising conditions (= 4.17), sustainability (= 3.71), feed management and sanitation (= 3.08), farming equipment (= 2.87), funding (= 2.09), and government service (= 1.42). These indicate that farming areas have highly positive opinion because of adequate utility and good quality of drinking water resources and relatively high on the distribution and returns as it is a major household income. The funding has a low score because of inadequate funding and the government service needs an improvement. In conclusion, this research will be used as a further guideline for government and private sectors to promote the raised of finishing pigs. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, ANALYSIS ON PROJECTS OF CONSCIENTIZATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH EXCLUSION-BASED APPROACHES AND CCPR MODEL(2023-01-01); In today's society, educators are challenged to provide quality education that enables learners to achieve their goals to be able to solve problems during a disruptive era. This research illustrates that it is important to examine learners’ thinking processes to enable them to distinguish right from wrong and make informed decisions. The objectives of this research were 1) to analyze the projects of conscientization thinking of students at King Mongut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang Prince of Chumphon who enrolled in an Integrated Thinking course and 2) to study how assigned video clips affect conscientization among the target learners. The students produced video clips according to the principle of enhancing conscientization. This coding media was later distributed to the target learners, which initiated the process of conscientization. Sixteen video clips were used as the units of analysis. A content analysis form was used as the data collection tool. Observation and frequency analysis of content were used to collect qualitative data. Content and descriptive analysis techniques were employed in the data analysis; and an investigator triangulation method was used for validity confirmation. The results of this research indicated that the sixteen video clips aligned with Paulo Freire's process of enhancing conscientization. Therefore, after viewing the video clips, the target learners responded with conscientious feedback. In conclusion, only one coding and decoding process is needed according to Paulo Freire's approach to teaching thinking.
