Item type:Publication, The effect of granular material on stress state transducer(2018-12-19); Soil compaction is one of the serious problems in crop production. It occurs under stress conditions in soil, which are induced by agricultural machines. Therefore, it is necessary to characterize stress in the soil so as to predict soil compaction. A stress state transducer is a device used to derive the stresses in the soil. The purpose of this laboratory work was to study the effect of granular material, as a medium, on the static stress that occurs in each plane of the stress state transducer (σ <inf>x</inf> , σ <inf>y</inf> , σ <inf>z</inf> , σ <inf>n1</inf> , σ <inf>n2</inf> and σ <inf>n3</inf> ). In the experimental test, a stress state transducer was placed inside dry sand with different granular sizes, then vertical pressure loading and unloading processes were applied to a range of 0-200 kPa. The z-direction stress was compared with the reference pressure and the results found that grade I sand gave a quite linear relationship between applied load as the equation σ <inf>z</inf> = 0.747P <inf>ref</inf> + 16.5249, R <sup>2</sup> = 0.9866 and corresponding stress on the loading process. In the unloaded case, the pressure was higher than when load testing and had a hysteresis of 15.7305 %. The relationship of stresses in the other planes was similar. A comparable tendency was observed in the larger granular sizes of sand, but with less linearity. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Design and evaluation of portable flat-bed wheel and axle load scale for measuring lightweight vehicles(2019-09-09) ;Chumsang, W.; The balancing of the wheel and axle load ratio affects the vehicle performance. In this study, the flat-bed load scale was designed and fabricated using the ring transducer that detected the force in a range of 0-150 kg. The 48 mm ring transducers were bonded with the strain gauges in circuits of the quarter and full Wheatstone bridge. After that, the ring transducers were placed in the 3 patterns of P1, P2 and P3 and statically calibrated at the 3 positions i.e., centre (C1) and offset-centre (C2 and C3). The P3 type of force platform was found that it could be used to measure the vertical force accurately whereas the P1 pattern had highest percentage error in percentage. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Drying characteristics of whole Musa AA group 'Kluai Leb Mu Nang' using hot air and infrared vacuum(2017-06-27); ; Suwanpayak, N.Dried Musa AA group 'Kluai Leb Mu Nang' are the famous processing goods of Chumphon province, the south of Thailand. In this paper, we improved the qualities of whole Musa AA group 'Kluai leb Mu Nang' by using the hot air and infrared vacuum (HA and infrared vacuum) drying method which has two stages. The first stage of the method is the hot air (HA) and hot air-infrared (HAI) drying for rapidly reducing the moisture content and the drying times at atmospheric pressure, and the second stage, the moisture content, and color of the samples can be controlled by the HA and infrared vacuum drying. The experiment was evaluated by the terms of firmness, color change, moisture content, vacuum pressure and energy consumption at various temperatures. The results were found that the suitable temperature of the HAI and HA and infrared vacuum drying stages at 70°C and 55°C, respectively, while the suitable vacuum pressure in the second process was -0.4 bar. The samples were dried in a total of 28 hrs using 13.83 MJ/kg of specific energy consumption (stage 1 with 8.8 MJ/kg and stage 2 of 5.03 MJ/kg). The physical characteristics of the 21% (wb) of dried bananas can be measured the color change, L<sup>∗</sup>=38.56, a<sup>∗</sup>=16.47 and b<sup>∗</sup>=16.3, was approximate the goods from the local market, whereas the firmness of them was more tender and shown a value of 849.56 kN/m<sup>3</sup>. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of ohmic heating on colour and texture of chicken frankfurter(2019-09-09) ;Lim-Im, J.; ;Suwanpayak, N.Ohmic method is a heating technique using the electrical current directly through the food. In this study, the commercial chicken frankfurters were heated by an alternating current in a voltage range of 45-55 V and compared the qualities in term of colour, texture, moisture content and water activity with the non-heating. The voltage gradient was conversely correlated with the heating duration. The high voltage gradient could raise the target temperature in a short time but it provided the less shear force of specimen tenderness. On the other hand, every voltage insignificantly influenced the sausage moisture content. The large amount of the water activity was significant decreased at the voltage gradient of 50 V and the hardness and the shearing level of the sample of this intensity were similar to the non-heating sausage. The specimens with ohmic heating seemed homogeneous colour with naked eye whereas the measured values were slightly different. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Measuring the impact of tractor trailers on soil compaction for typical sugarcane-haulage operations in Thailand(2017-04-01); ;Usaborisut, Prathuang; ; Abdullakasim, WanratMechanization associated with operations in sugarcane production may lead to severe soil compaction. Soils may be particularly susceptible during harvesting and transport of sugarcane from the fields. A tractor towing a trailer can be a useful mean of sugarcane transport even in moist soil, but this can lead to soil compaction. In this study, the influence of tractor traffic when towing two types of trailers, i.e. a full-trailer (one on the front and two axles tandem on the rear) and a semitrailer (two axles tandem), were studied. The results showed that after the passage of a tractortowed trailer, soil bulk density in the test field was increased significantly. The passage of a tractor-towed trailer increased the penetration resistance to more than 3 MPa. The effect of a vehicle passage could reach to soil depths exceeding 45 cm, and increased as axle load increased. Analysis of the soil stresses indicated that the soil had been subjected not only to the compression stress but also the shear stress. The maximum principal stress (s1) generated by a tractor-towed semi-trailer was high. Further study should determine the thresholds for carried weight on different soil conditions in order to avoid excessive soil compaction.
