    Design and Build of a Multi-Zone Beamforming Speaker

    Recently, beamforming speaker for multi-zone sound production is an application that is of interest such as conference system, public address, home cinema, and gaming. This paper presents a design of a speaker array and DS beamforming aiming to use for product advertising such that the speaker can be installed on the shelf. The limit of the space and the usable frequency range are the challenges of this work. The design of the speaker cabinet and the beamforming algorithm will be discussed.

    Iris recognition based on dynamic radius matching of iris image

    This paper presents iris recognition method based on dynamic radius matching of iris image. First, the iris images are segmented to remove the eyelashes and eyelids. Then the individual feature of the iris image can be extracted by expanding their polar images into Fourier series. The obtained Fourier coefficient is used as the individual features for iris recognition. Moreover, in order to reduce the fluctuation caused by size of pupil and iris, the dynamic radius matching is introduced to calculate the similarity between the iris images. Experimental results were performed on CASIA V1.0 [6] public iris database having 756 iris images from 108 persons. The obtained accuracy rate was 94.8%. © 2012 IEEE.

    Acoustical analysis of the thai duct flute, Khlui

    The purpose of this paper is to study the acoustical model of the Thai traditional duct flute, khlui. The relation between physical characteristics of the flute, such as acoustic length, playing hole, temperature effect, etc., and the frequency of each musical note of khluis is investigated. First, the fundamental frequencies of each finger hole of 10 khluis are measured. Then, data between the ideal musical notes and measured notes of khlui are analysed. The results indicate that the production process of khlui still has limits in accuracy. Finally, in order to develop a production standard of the Thai duct flute, a model of khlui is designed. The musical notes of the designed flute are measured. The accuracy of the designed flute is investigated to support the understanding of its acoustical model.
