Item type:Publication, Backward Third-Harmonic Pulse Generation in a One-Dimensional PIM/NIM Structure(2018-12-19); ;Wicharn, S.In this work, a set of couple-mode equations for describing a backward third harmonic generation (BTHG) in a one-dimensional periodic structure of positive-index material (PIM) layers and third-order nonlinear negative-index material (NIM) layers was analysed using multiple-scale method. Due to the negative-index phase matching and band-edge field enhancement the intensities of backward third-harmonic pulsed generated from the PIM/NIM periodic structure is increased for 100 time of those generated from a single NIM medium. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Digital holography system for undergraduate student laboratory(2015-01-01); ;Plaipichit, S.; Yoshimori, K.In this paper, we discuss the digital holography (DH) experiment in our optical and communication laboratory course for undergraduate students at Physics department, KMITL. The purposes of DH experiment are presenting our students the meaning and advantage of DH and its applications. The Gabor configurations of in-line DH has been set up for recording a number of samples, which were placed on different distances, simultaneously. Then, the images of all objects have been numerical reconstructed by using computer. The students have been learned that all of reconstructed images have been got from only one time recording, while using the conventional recording technique, sharp images of different objects have been gotten from different recording time. The students also have been learned how to use DH technique for investigation some different kinds of samples on their own of interested such as a human hair or a fingerprint. In our future work, our DH system will be developed to be a portable apparatus for easily showing to children in different areas. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Comparison of Interferometry Applications: Michelson vs. Sagnac Interferometers(2025-05-14) ;Wannasri, Thanawat; An interferometer is a crucial instrument for collecting information on interference patterns, widely used in both scientific and industrial applications. This paper was focused on comparing the interferometric applications of the Michelson and Sagnac interferometers. The Michelson interferometer, characterized by its double-path setup, and the Sagnac interferometer, which operates on a common-path principle, were analyzed. Experiments were conducted to capture interference patterns of different samples using both interferometers. In the first experiment, the image fringes of the alphabet characters (K, M, I, T, and L) were captured, while in the second, fingerprint patterns were captured. The results showed that both interferometers produced similar fringes for the alphabet characters, although the Sagnac interferometer exhibited a higher circular frequency. In the fingerprint experiment, the Michelson interferometer produced linear fringes. This study highlights the distinct fringe patterns generated by each interferometer when different samples are analyzed, providing valuable insights into their diverse applications. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Imaging enhancement of digital holography using photorefractive effect(2015-01-01) ;Sidakum, K.; ;Plaipichit, S.; Yoshimori, K.In this research, two-wave coupling in photorefractive lithium niobate crystal has been used to do imaging enhancement of digital holography (DH) system. The image bearing beam of in-line DH system has been incident and interfered with a reference beam that was emerged from the same laser on a LiNbO<inf>3</inf> crystal. With certain angles between both beams, the energy of the reference beam was transferred to the image bearing beam then resulted the enhancement of the reconstructed image of the DH system. By using the suitable intensity of laser beam with a right PR crystal, the image from an in-line DH imaging system would be improved. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Enhancement of backward third-harmonic generation in a one-dimensional PIM/NIM periodic structure(2018-09-01) ;Wicharn, Surawut; A numerical simulation is reported for backward third-harmonic generation (BTHG) in a one-dimensional periodic structure containing a stack composed of positive-index material (PIM) and negative-index material (NIM). A multiple-scale method is used to formulate a completed set of coupled-mode equations with inhomogeneous higher-order nonlinear terms for both electric and magnetic fields. The coupled equations are numerically solved to simulate output third-harmonic frequency pulses and their conversion efficiencies by a fast Fourier transform–pulse propagation method. Finally, the numerical results validate the idea that using a combination of the negative-index phase-matched condition, which is created by engineering the dispersive property of the NIM layer, and local field enhancement, which is created by arranging PIM and NIM layers in an optimal periodic fashion, yields a dramatic enhancement of BTHG conversion efficiency. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Speckle imaging of graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide(2025-01-01) ;Sirikarntayuprakit, Pakkanhan; ; Rattanasirawit, ChinnapatLaser speckle imaging is a non-contact technique for analyzing materials' surface roughness and scattering characteristics. This study investigated the speckle patterns of graphene oxide (GO) in sheet form and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) in powder form under coherent laser illumination. The intensity distributions were recorded using a CMOS camera and analyzed statistically to determine key surface parameters, including speckle contrast and roughness. The results show that GO produces a finer, more uniform speckle pattern with lower contrast and roughness values than rGO, which exhibits coarser and more irregular patterns. These differences reflect the distinct structural characteristics of the two materials. The findings demonstrate the potential of speckle imaging for non-destructive optical characterization of graphene-based materials.
