    Path analysis of the core competency of thai private hospitals in the ASEAN economic community

    The objectives of the research were to study path relations between a lean healthcare system, Six Sigma practice and internal quality management of core competency of Thai private hospitals to be an ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) medical care center. The population and sample group of the study were the Hospital Accreditation (HA) officers of Thai private hospitals between December 2012 and May 2013. The sample group totaled 312 persons. The study tool included questionnaires and a path analysis was employed to analyze the data. The findings of the study determined that (1) The lean healthcare system indirectly influences, through internal quality management, a hospital's core competency to be an AEC medical care center, (2) Six Sigma practices directly influence a hospital's core competency to be an AEC medical care center, (3) Six Sigma practices indirectly influence, through internal quality management, a hospital's core competency to be an AEC medical care center, (4) Internal quality management directly influences a hospital's core competency to be an AEC medical care center.

    The mediating role of innovative work behavior on the relationship between knowledge sharing behavior and innovation capability in Thailand private university

    Amongst today turbulent business environment, innovation is considered as a main source of an organization competitive advantage. In higher education environment, especially in the private university, innovation has also received considerable concern as a major contributor in securing sustainable competitive edge in the marketplace. As a result, a number of factors have been introduced to enhance the organizational innovation capability. This research aims to examine the relationship between employees' knowledge sharing behavior, innovative work behavior and organizational innovation capability. The research surveyed a sample of 367 private university staffs in Thailand. Structural equation modeling was used to test the measurement model and path analysis was used to examine the comparative strength of direct and indirect relationships among variables. The analytical results revealed that knowledge sharing behavior showed a positive link to both innovation capability and innovative work behavior. In addition, innovative work behavior was found to be a partial mediator of the relationship between knowledge sharing behavior and innovation capability. This study provides some useful information for university administrators, and highlights management issues involving knowledge sharing behavior and understanding the influence of innovative work behavior on organizational innovation capability.

    An analysis of how government support, entrepreneurship, service innovation, and e-readiness affect a Thai SME hotel's competitive advantage

    Essential elements of economic development are small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which are considered the primary mechanism for enhancing income and employment of countries around the world. In Thailand, most hotels function within the spectrum as SMEs, which therefore are a crucial element in providing a memorable experience to Thailand's 40 million foreign visitors and domestic Thai tourists. Therefore, the authors undertook a study of the opinions of 280 SME hotel owners, managers, and advisors to investigate their opinions concerning their hotel's competitive advantage (CA). LISREL 9.1 was used to analyse the owners and managers opinions on how a Thai SME hotel's CA was affected by government support (GS), entrepreneurship (EN), service innovation (SI), and electronic e-readiness (e- RE). Results from the five-province sample revealed that all the causal variables positively influenced CA, as the combined variance of influence was 77% (R<sup>2</sup>). Also, from the study's eight SEM hypotheses results, the factors most relevant to a Thai hotel entrepreneur's CA when ranked in importance were SI, e-RE, EN, and GS. Finally, SI was determined to ne most essential to a hotel entrepreneur's CA, which included the manifest variables product innovation, process innovation, and marketing innovation.

    The mediating effect of knowledge-sharing behaviour on total quality management and organisational innovation capability

    Ever since innovation was recognised as a key contributor to securing competitive advantage in the higher education arena, many factors have been introduced to enhance innovation capability. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between total quality management (TQM) and organisational innovation capability (OIC), as well as investigate the role of knowledge-sharing behaviour (KSB) in mediating this relationship. A survey was conducted on 367 academic staff and support staff from private universities in Thailand. The analytical results suggest that TQM is positively linked to OIC and KSB, in which the KSB plays a partial mediating role between TQM and OIC. The findings should benefit university administrators to improve innovation capability in addition to implementing TQM to develop appropriate strategies for maintaining a knowledge-sharing environment, leading to the kind of tacit knowledge that can successfully raise the innovation capability of private universities.
