Fascilitating education instruction using gesture control

Abstract

In this paper we develop hand gesture commands for a Pan-tilt zoom camera. Our proposed scheme creates commands based on hand position and orientation which are captured by a motion sensor (Kinect). The new algorithm supports a rectangular area. In the calibration process, we focus on four interesting points and record two sets of four coordinates from both cameras. The relationship between two sets of values are mapped and applied to control the pan-tilt zoom movement. The results show that a PTZ camera can detect hand gestures and track objects correctly.
