Abstract
Hi this paper the application of a time domain hard decision Reed Solomon decoder to a MAC layer of IEEE 802.15.6 Wireless Body Area Network is elaborated. To match with the payload size of 255 byte of Narrow Band PHY, RS(255, 223) has been taken as a case. The algorithm is based all the known modified Berlekamp-Massey procedure. Both pipeline and loop architectures have been verified via FPGA implementation. The loop architecture has shown its advantage for lower resource utilization, low power and suit well adaptive rate FEC application The error rate performance given by the system simulation has confirmed its advantages over fixed rate codes.
