Abstract
This research proposes to study reliability values for the parameters of mechanical components using a Latin hypercube sampling (LHS), an optimum Latin hypercube sampling (OLHS) and Monte Carlo simulation (MCS). The traditional MCS is known that can reduce computational burden in generating random variable when compare with a full factorial sampling. The variant of LHS is also developed to accomplish the time consumption of the MCS, which expects to fit very well result with the traditional one. To study the performance in generate the random variable of the various LHS, in this research provided the state function that was applied to estimate the reliability of mechanical components such as a connecting rod, a leaf spring, a vehicle half-shaft, a rear axle housing, and a front axle, all of which had non-normal distributions. This research provides methodology that obtained probability of reliability of mechanical components practical engineering and can extend to design aircraft wing structure in the future.
