Abstract

This paper presents a PI controller based on a direct synthesis method for DC-link voltage control of an active power filter. This method is widely used for controller design in industrial process control and it suits controller design for DC-link voltage control. It is easy to calculate proportional gain and integral gain of the PI controller with defining only the desired settling time but it offers good performance for reference voltage tracking without overshooting. Its gain margin and phase margin are high positive values indicating that the proposed method has very good stability. The experimental results confirm that the proposed method has fast dynamic response., accuracy of settling time according to desired settling time for reference tracking and good regulation for disturbance change.
