Abstract

Multiwavelength optical spin generated by using a dark-bright soliton pair within an optical device is proposed, where in this case the modified add-drop optical filter is used to construct and form a PANDA ring resonator. By using the dark-bright soliton pair control, the optical spins can also be constructed, which has an advantage as the dark and bright soliton pair (components) can propagate for long distance without electromagnetic interference. The coupling between soliton pair and metallic waveguide is also established, in which the transverse electric (TE) and magnetic (TM) fields can be detected, which can form the optical spin states, i.e., spin-up and spin-down and use to form the spin sensing applications. Several sensing configurations such as magnetic field, electrical current, and optical phase (wavelength) shift can be formed by using the generated optical spins within the PANDA ring circuit (coated and uncoated rings), which are described in detail here. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd All rights reserved.
