Abstract
This study explores the factors influencing the success of starting and running a business, focusing on government support, business environment, and ease of doing business in Indonesia and Thailand. Using a mixed-methods approach, qualitative data were gathered through in-depth interviews with MSME actors, and quantitative data were collected from 120 respondents via structured questionnaires. The analysis reveals both similarities and differences between the two countries. Thailand places greater emphasis on digital integration and global market orientation, while Indonesia prioritizes local empowerment and financial inclusion. Quantitative findings confirm that all three factors significantly influence entrepreneurial intention in both contexts. The study highlights the importance of context-specific strategies and policy support for MSME development. However, the use of purposive sampling limits the generalizability of the findings. This research contributes a cross-national perspective on entrepreneurial ecosystems and offers insights to support evidence-based policymaking for MSME growth in emerging economies.
