Abstract
This paper proposes a space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) method based on a carrier providing unbalanced phase voltages for asymmetrical parameter type two-phase induction motor drives using a three-leg voltage source inverter (VSI). The principle is fully described. The proposed space vector equivalent phase leg reference voltages are derived from conventional ones. With the proposed SVPWM method, the output voltages are displaced at 90° with controllable amplitudes. The validity of the proposed method is verified by both calculated and experimental results. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
