Abstract
This paper presents a power supply for testing a 5 kVA induction motor, which can be applied to testing of induction motors and generators complied with the IEEE Std. 112-2004. The power supply consists of a three-phase AC-DC rectifier, a DC filter and a 6-step inverter with a low pass filer providing nearly sinusoidal output voltages. The blocked rotor test has been conducted at 25 % rated motor operating frequency. The comparison between the conventional blocked rotor test and the proposed method of a 750 W three-phase induction motor is given. The obtained results can be used in research of energy conversion offering an energy reduction in the induction motor testing.
