Abstract
UTD solutions are developed for the canonical problems of the radiation by point sources on electrically large metallic cylinders and spheres with a thin uniform material coating. These solutions can be generalized to treat antennas on an arbitrary smooth convex coated surface. A hybrid scheme may then be employed to combine a numerical approach for local antenna modeling with this UTD solution which takes into account the effects on the antenna pattern due to the presence of the convex platform that is assumed to be electrically large. © 2011 IEEE.
