Abstract
Orthogonal frequency division-multiplexing (OFDM) is included in many communication standards to exploit the benefits of longer symbol duration which results in lower intersymbol interference and distributed power among subcarriers. One impediment to achieve theoretical performance is impulsive noise. This paper proposes the use of nonlinear blanking method jointly with frequency-domain equalization and iterative processing. The performance results show improvement of about 2 dB in bit error rate over the case without nonlinear blanking processing in OFDM system with frame structure similar to the DVB-T frame format. © 2005 IEEE.
