Abstract
In this paper, the problem of robust ℋ∞ load-frequency controller design with regional pole constraints is considered. The problem we address is to design the output feedback controller such that, for all admissible parameter uncertainties, the closed-loop system satisfies not only the prespecified ℋ∞ norm constraint on the transfer function from the disturbance input to the system output, but also the prespecified circular pole constraint on the closed-loop system matrix. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of desired controllers are derived in terms of a linear maitrix inequality (LMI). The performance of the proposed robust controller is not only validated through simulation with the power system model, but also compared with the work of Azzam and Mohamed 5) and the standard robust ℋ∞ control method, respectively. The simulation results show that the system responses with the proposed controller are the best transient responses. Besides, it is shown that the transient responses of the proposed controller with regional pole constraints are improved. © 2005 SICE.
