Abstract
This paper proposes very new techniques from our previous work such as a new concept for path generation, a new variant of teaching-learning based optimization (TLBO), and an alternative constraint handling technique that extends to synthesize a six-bar linkage. The techniques have been proved the performance in solving path generation of the four-bar linkages. The new TLBO is called a teaching-learning-based optimization with a diversity archive (ATLBO-DA), while the constraint handling technique is derived from the four constraint handling rules. The new model of six-bar linkage is an extension of the previous model of the four-bar linkage. The Watt I six-bar linkage can model by combining two loops of an original four-bar linkage. In this study, three problems of the four-bar path generation are extended to test the performance of the proposed technique, which are the six-bar synthesis problems. The desired paths are subdivided into rectilinear, full circular and complexity oval shape. The results of the experiment show that the proposed technique can be applied to the path generation problem of the six-bar linkage without prescribed timing and give very well precision.
