Abstract
This paper presents design of an ozone generator by using solar cells as energy source. 12 V dc from solar panels is transferred and converted to dc voltage -8kV with ripple frequency of 15 kHz. It was tested and compared with normally negative dc in terms of the capability of ozone production. Air is passed through electrode sets to split and recombine to form ozone by corona discharge. For electrode design, concept is based on gas ionization in highly non-uniform field [3]. Point-to-plane electrodes are selected, are tested to find out the appropriate one. The prototype system can generate ozone gas from air approximately 20 mgO3/hr.
