Abstract
This paper reports on a study of determining the capacitance from the given permittivity patterns and describes the image reconstruction method for Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT). The model described in this paper is a square object with 8 electrodes. The finite difference method and Gauss's law are used for calculating numerically the capacitance of the system. Linear back-projection is then utilized for the image reconstruction. To improve the image qualities, the iterative atgorithm and the thresholding are applied. The experimental results show that the capacitance are readily evaluated and the reconstructed images are closely resemble the original images.
