dc.description.abstractThe radio frequency identification (RFID) tags are proposed to be employed as remotely read dielectric-property sensors to determine qualities of some construction material products (CMPs); e.g., light weight concrete (LWC), mortar specimens and concrete. This paper presents a study of the characteristics of an RFID tag mounted at several locations on the LWC. The numerical simulations are performed using the CST Microwave Studio to study effects of tag, where the folded dipole with an inductive loop tag antenna is used. Results show that locations of an RFID tag on LWC affects the tag antenna characteristics such as input impedance, gain and radiation pattern. © 2012 IEEE.
