dc.description.abstractAbstract Physical environment of urban centres often conveys different message to visitors and dwellers. Psychological processes–perception, cognition, and recognition–guide dwellers and strangers to perceive and act on the particular district's functionality differently. This research attempts to identifies features embodied the physical environment conveying the district functionality. The research tools are specially designed to investigate the perception and recognition of young urbanites on the differentiations of five major districts in Bangkok. Questionnaires with visual stimuli are used to inquire information from undergraduate students. The study aims to derive the urban features conveying district message and propose the design guidelines.
