Abstract

The model of STEM associated with social issues is presented. Many projects are implemented with science, technology, mathematics, and engineering (STEM) but exclude the impact of long-term sustainability in both social and economic topics. The proposed model of STEM, which includes social matters, should be applied to be S+STEM. A case study of PV water pumps in the tapioca drip irrigation system has been provided to ensure the success of S+STEM. Although the design of irrigation systems requires STEM principles, it should be considered on issues related to society and communities, particularly about the cost and pollution that occur, which is a matter that the community values.
