A new counting and direction-sensing circuit which produces twice as many counting pulses as that of an earlier design is described. It offers two alternative advantages, i.e., it may be regarded as doubling the accuracy of displacement measurement or relaxing the stringent resolution requirement of a transducer, such as the Moire transducer, by half.
