This paper proposes power quality improvement of a 0.40 kW, 220V, 4.S0A, 4 pole grid connected split-phase induction generator using a capacitor for reactive power compensation in conjunction with the third and fifth tuned harmonic filters for mitigation of grid harmonic currents associated with the capacitor for reactive compensation. The design of the shunt passive filters is given. The obtained results can be guidelines for the design of a suitable induction generator system for efficient wind energy applications.
