In this paper, direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of monopole Yagi array antenna on the ground plane for mobile system is proposed. Spatial smoothing technique and unitary ESPRIT are considered to find the direction of signal under uncorrelated and correlated signal conditions, respectively. The configuration of the estimated antenna is also proposed to reduce the co-channel interference at the base station when compared with conventionally omnidirectional antenna. In addition, DOA estimation with this antenna can be increased the performance and capacity in mobile system.
