Abstract

This research aims to observe and improve the received signal resolution that reflected from moving object which, in this experiment, is pedestrian who would be moving around radar within close ranges (2 meters, 15 meters, and 30 meters apart from stationary monostatic radar). Since simulation is a better choice to observe the changes of signal with variety ranges of frequency with less uncontrollable variables thus MATLAB is the chosen tool to run on the experiment in order to observe the micro-doppler effect in each scenario. Considering real-life limitation, authors focus on off-the-shelf frequency range that everyone could access; 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz the frequency range of WIFI. The observation results show that if we want to decrease the frequency from 24 GHz to these household WIFI and still not decrease its information too much to unable to recognize human movement, 5 GHz is a better choice comparing to 2.4 GHz if the application aims to detect the minimum range of moving target indoor with resolution range is more or equal to 1 meter.
