Item type:Publication, Study on the installation of harmonic filter circuits for industrial plants connected to solar energy systems and low harmonic currents(2023-01-01) ;Boonseng, Chongrag ;Gitnumlapcharoen, PoomipatBoonseng, RapeepornpatIn industrial systems, solar power systems are used to reduce environmental impact and use less energy from the grid. Solar energy systems have non-linear electrical characteristics that cause harmonic problems. Such problems result in damage to electrical equipment despite the small amount of harmonic current. This paper presents a suitable and simple analytical method to solve this problem by installing a passive filter. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The Low Voltage Isolation Transformer Failure Investigation: Measurements, Analysis and Lessons Learned(2020-09-01) ;Boonseng, Chongrag ;Boonseng, RapeepornpatKularbphettong, KunyanuthThis paper presents a case study of failure analysis for a 200kVA, 400 V isolation transformer at a semiconductor plant with a start-up with problems faced before permanent damage. The basic requirements of the acceleration of the dynamic transformer to achieve a successful start will be checked In addition, the results of the measurement of the location of the electrical parameters and the separation process are shown to indicate the cause of the error and evidence of the testimony. The results are confirmed by a failure analysis report provided by the manufacturer. This paper also addresses the obstacles that are faced due to the limited error and availability of information and how to solve the problem. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Diagnosis of Oscillation and Vibration of Dry-Type Transformers Caused by Harmonic Resonance(2020-09-01) ;Boonseng, Chongrag ;Boonseng, RapeepornpatKularbphettong, KunyanuthThis paper has investigated the oscillation and vibration of dry-type transformers under harmonic current and resonance system. Power dry-type transformers are the equipment being critical for the availability of electrical energy networks. Prevention of failures gains importance considering outage time and resulting subsequent costs. Therefore, permanent monitoring of dry-type transformer is used. The inspection begins with turning off the electric load of the heater, resulting in a completely silent sound and no vibration. The analysis results from the data can show that resonance occurs in electrical systems at frequencies in the range of 100, 150 and 1,150 Hz. Modifying and controlling the harmonic level by installing a Hybrid Power Filter System (HPFs) which uses the Passive Power Filter System (PPFs) to filter the harmonic current down first and then using the Active Power Filter System (APFs) eliminates the remaining harmonics in the system. The harmonic filtering operations of PPFs and APFs are independently separated, with the PPFs positioned near the electrical load and the APFs positioned near the transformers. Finally, the harmonic current can be reduced to a very good level of about 3%. As a result, the dry-type transformers do not make sound, do not oscillation or vibrate. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Partial Discharge Phenomena in Power Capacitor Unit Insulation Under Harmonic Resonance Effects(2020-01-01) ;Boonseng, Chongrag ;Boonseng, Rapeepornpat ;Boonsaner, Nutthaphan ;Kinnares, VijitApiratikul, PromsakThe capacitor in the electrical system for power factor correction is always damaged when under voltage and current waveforms are distorted. There was a test found that the electrical insulation was damaged and destroyed. In order to learn this damage mechanism it requires a non-destructive inspection method. The partial discharge (PD) testing is a method that can detect deterioration and a defect in the electrical insulating material that is not visible. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of harmonic resonance on power capacitor unit insulation. High voltage capacitor units consist of parallel and series connected elements. The rating of element of capacitor units applied in the power system is 6.67 kVAR/Phase, 400 V. Series resonance can lead to high voltage distortion levels at a low voltage side of transformer resulting in high harmonic current in the element of capacitors. The inspection and element of capacitor unit test are used to obtain power system resonance, a standard operating procedure, testing and measurement between phase to ground using the partial discharge model MPD 600 OMICRON, dielectric losses and capacitance model CPC 100 OMICRON. Finally, the scanning electron microscope (SEM) is used. The comparison of results between new element of capacitor and element under harmonic resonance are performed. The results convey that breakdown in insulating of capacitors under harmonic resonance can be used for considering capacitor voltage rating. The failure of insulation an increase in obtained and emphasized by photograph from SEM.
