We proposed a concept of cryptography using dark-bright soliton conversion behaviors within a nonlinear ring resonator, in which the orthogonal soliton is established among the soliton conversion. A new model of add/drop filters is modified which is known as a PANDA ring resonator is proposed. The orthogonal solitons can be formed randomly within the system and detected simultaneously at the output ports. The entangled solitons (photons) can be formed in the same way of the entangled photons, but in this case the entangled soliton pair is gained more power that gives the advantage of long distance communication.

We propose a new design for all-optical S-R flip-flop using optical technique namely dark-bright soliton conversion control within an optical add-drop filter. In operation, all-optical data input logic '0', '1' is formed by dark soliton (D) and bright soliton (B) pulses, respectively. The conversion behaviour between dark and bright soliton pulses can be obtained and formed the logic pulses by a π/2 phase shifted device (i.e. an optical coupler), in which the binary logic operation can be formed simultaneously at the thought and drop ports, respectively. In all-optical S-R flip-flop application can be recognized as a simple and flexible system for forming the logic switching system. Numerical simulation results are obtained and confirmed for the useful application, in which the advanced logical system can be operated. © 2012 IEEE.

This study has proposed a new design system for basic all-optical logic and arithmetic operation using dark-bright soliton conversion control base on tree architecture. Optical tree architecture and nonlinear materials can provide a significant role for contribution in optical interconnecting network and ultrafast photonic computing system. In operation, the input data for all-optical binary logic can be formed by dark and bright soliton pulses for logic '0' and '1', respectively. By using the dark-bright soliton conversion behaviors, the conversion between dark and bright soliton pulses can be obtained and formed the logic pulse by a 7i/2 phase shifted device (i.e., an optical coupler). In application, the proposed scheme can be recognized as a simple and flexible system for forming the logic switching system, which can be used for advanced logical system. © 2012 Asian Network for Scientific Information.

This paper presents the phase-locked loop (PLL) process control system designed by using the approach of linear quadratic regulator (LQR). By considering the loop filter (LF) of phase-locked loop is a part of the process to be controlled, an augmented system can be constructed when voltage control oscillators (VCO) is considered as an added integrator. The integral gain of the proposed augmented system obtained by LQR can be used as an optimal value to design the parameter of LF under the known value of natural frequency of the PLL. The experimental results in controlling the second-order lag pressure process using the proposed PLL show that the system response is fast without overshoot and steady-state error, the output disturbance effect can be rejected, the property of tracking can be obtained and the system can be controlled when process parameter is changed. © 2004 IEEE.

In this paper, a design of the augmented state feedback controller by using the concept of Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM) for a servo type of the rotational inverted pendulum system is presented. An Integrator is augmented to the system due to the responses exhibiting steady-state error. In order to apply the CDM method, the augmented system must be firstly linearized and converted into controllable canonical form by a transform matrix. Then a feedback gain matrix in sense of CDM can be obtained. One can observe that the design procedure of the proposed controller is easy compared to other methods. The experimental results are shown in order to verify the effectiveness of the controller. © 2004 IEEE.

An indirect fuzzy logic controller (IFLC) designed by pole placement method for an augmented fuzzy system consisting of a global fuzzy model and an integrator is proposed. The global fuzzy model is constructed from the local fuzzy models and their membership functions. The controller is implemented to control a level process in laboratory to demonstrate its effectiveness.

FFC incorporating PI controller designed by CDM for temperature control systems

A design of PI controller to be used to control the first order lag plus dead time process, such as a temperature process, by the coefficient diagram method (CDM) is investigated. The factor of the dead time of the process is first approximated to be the first-order by the Fade approximation. The responses of the temperature control system designed by CDM satisfy both transient and steady state specifications. However, the transient response generally still has long rise time. In order to improve the speed of the system response, a feedforward controller (FFC) is added into the PI control system. The structure of the FFC is a phase lead structure with two designed parameters and one derivative time obtained from reaction curve of the temperature process. The experimental results show that the performance of the PI control system with properly assigned FFC has short rise time, no overshoot and good disturbance rejection properties.

This paper presents the flow control system using the phase-locked loop technique in cooperated with PI controller. The PI controller is utilized to pull the flow rate of the system into the phase-locked loop locking range and the steady state flow rate will be controlled later by the phase-locked loop. An experimental system is implemented to evaluate the performance of the flow control system using the proposed control method. The experimental results in controlling the system in the laboratory show that the overshoot is approximately 10% for the 50% step input of the maximum flow rate and the steady-state error is smaller than ±2%. The experimental results also indicate that the effect of load disturbance is rapidly rejected.
