Item type:Publication, PI controller design with feedforward by CDM for level processes(2000-12-01) ;Kumpanya, Danupon; ;Ngamwiwit, JongkolKomine, NoriyukiA second-order level process controlled by PI controller designed from coefficient diagram method (CDM) will meet the desired performances both in transient and steady-sate response. However, the transient response generally still has long rise time. This paper presents an additional idea to improve the speed of the system response by including a feedforward controller (FFC) in the closed-loop system. The structure of the FFC is a phase lead structure with a parameter that can be varied greater than one. The faster step response of the controlled system can be obtained while the rejection speed of the effect due to constant output disturbance is not affected by the proposed FFC. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, PLL in cooperated with PI controller for flow control system(1999-12-01) ;Wanchana, S.; ;Komine, N.Ngamwiwit, J.This paper presents the flow control system using the phase-locked loop technique in cooperated with PI controller. The PI controller is utilized to pull the flow rate of the system into the phase-locked loop locking range and the steady state flow rate will be controlled later by the phase-locked loop. An experimental system is implemented to evaluate the performance of the flow control system using the proposed control method. The experimental results in controlling the system in the laboratory show that the overshoot is approximately 10% for the 50% step input of the maximum flow rate and the steady-state error is smaller than ±2%. The experimental results also indicate that the effect of load disturbance is rapidly rejected. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, An approach for room-temperature multi-directional forging of pure titanium for strengthening(2018-07-25) ;Miura, H. ;Kobayashi, M. ;Aoba, T. ;Aoyama, H.Commercially pure Ti grade 2 was multi-directionally forged (MDFed) at room temperature. MDFing could be successfully carried out without any cracking to a cumulative strain of ΣΔε = 2.0. Ultrafine-grained (UFGed) structure gradually developed with increasing cumulative strain mainly by mechanical twinning and kinking. An average grain size of approximately 400 nm was attained. The mechanical properties were drastically modified by the grain refinement and a superior balance of tensile strength and ductility, 710 MPa and 21%, was achieved. Additional cold rolling of the UFGed Ti possessed further better mechanical properties of 930 MPa tensile strength and 19% ductility. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Code generation of fractional filters for dsPIC microcontrollers(2011-12-01) ;Boksuwan, SungwanThe goal of code generation is to programmatically transform the structure and implementation of some algorithms into a particular code platform. In this paper, the platform of the dsPIC microcontrollers is targeted in order to take an advantage of the DSP engine built in such microcontroller for implementing digital filters and a PID controller. However, the defining and initializing process of fractional filters and the controller built in the library consumes a lot of developing time and probably causes human errors. Four MATLAB platform functions called tf2iircanonic, tf2transposed, tf2fir, fractionalPID are proposed to address those inconveniences. As a result, the designing process incorporating the proposed functions will exponentially enhance the developing procedure. © 2011 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Parameters tuning effects in the model predictive control of an inverted pendulum(2011-12-01) ;Chunhacha, PongtornThis paper investigates the applicability of using model predictive control for an inverted pendulum system and observes its parameters tuning effects. The linear model predictive control under an input saturation constraint is applied to the nonlinear model of the inverted pendulum on cart system. Sampling period and prediction horizon are varied for investigating their influences to the system's stability and performance. The comparison between the linear quadratic regulator and the model predictive control with the same weighting matrices is additionally implemented. © 2011 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Robust real-time model predictive control for torsional vibration system(2012-01-01) ;Boksuwan, SungwanIn this paper, explicit, robust Model Predictive Control (MPC) is proposed for the control of a two-mass system in order to achieve not only good tracking performance and load-change effect rejection, but also low torsional vibration, when the measurement noise contains outliers. The control structure presented in this paper is based fundamentally on the combination of explicit MPC and region detection via a self-optimizing variable. In addition, the well-known Kalman filter is replaced by the robust Kalman filter to deal with the outlier signals. The effectiveness of the proposed method is compared with a PID-based control. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, High-Temperature Deformation and Subsequent Static Recrystallization Behavior of Ultra-Low Stacking-Fault Energy Cu-Zn-Si Alloys(2026-01-01) ;Miura, Hiromi ;Kasuya, Sanshiro ;Oba, Yojiro ;Okada, TakuyaWatanabe, ChihiroBehaviors of high-temperature deformation followed by annealing and static recrystallization (SRX) in Cu-Zn-Si alloys with ultra-low stacking-fault energy (SFE) were investigated. The peak stress, steady-state flow stress and grain size during high-temperature deformation appeared to decrease with decreasing SFE, which would suggest easier occurrence of dynamic recrystallization (DRX) with decreasing SFE. Nevertheless, with increasing initial grain size, onset of DRX was much delayed even at higher temperatures and lower strain rates. SRX started after annealing for rather long periods of time contrary to the expectation that SRX should be stimulated because of meta-DRX. New grains evolved by DRX and SRX contained quite high density of annealing twins, showing DRX and SRX mechanisms induced by annealing twin formation during grain-boundary migration. Item type:Publication, Internet based crossover robot remote control competition among Asian countries - Development of practice based innovative education methodology, Phase V(2012-10-23) ;Xu, C. ;Ming, A. ;Kanamori, C. ;Aoyama, H.Li, H.We introduce 2011's progress and achievements of an internet based crossover robot remote control competition between Japan and China, Thailand, and Taiwan respectively. The competition project has two subjects: the competition itself and the student-student communication and cooperation. The basic competition mode is a remotely controlled robot via the internet cooperates with a locally controlled robot to finish a specified task and, as a unique feature of the project, the studentstudent communication and cooperation is trained through a crossover team organization style that each team is organized by two groups from different universities and the team members required to cooperate with each other via the internet to make robots and deal with competition affairs. Our experience shows the competition benefits not only students' technical skills but also their various no-technical skills and is expected to promote the development of a practice based university education methodology in the future. © 2012 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Swinging-up and stabilizing control of inverted pendulum on cart system by hybrid controller(2009-01-01) ;Asa, Ekachai; Komine, NoriyukiIn this paper, a hybrid controller designed for swinging-up and stabilizing an inverted pendulum on cart system is presented. The energy control concept is employed for moving the cart back and forth until the total energy of kinetic energy and potential energy are changed enough to swing the inverted pendulum up to around the upright position within the ranges of pendulum angle and angular velocity specified in the switching condition. After that, the stabilizing controller is switched to stabilize the inverted pendulum at the upright position. The stabilizing controller is a linear servo state feedback controller designed by coefficient diagram method. The simulation and experimental results in swinging-up the pendulum from its pendant position to around the position within a limited travel of the cart without pre-assigned cart's position and stabilizing the inverted pendulum on cart are also shown for comparison. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Multivariable control of overhead crane system by CRA method(2008-12-01); ; ;Ngamwiwit, JongkolKomine, NoriyukiIn this paper, three controllers, namely I-PD, PD and I-P controllers designed by CRA method for simultaneously controlling the trolley position, load-swing angle and hoisting rope length of the overhead crane system is proposed. The non-linear model of the crane system is first approximated to be three transfer functions in accordance with the trolley position, load-swing angle and hoisting rope length respectively. Then, the corresponding parameters of the I-PD, PD and I-P controllers are designed independently based on the appropriate values of generalized time constant and characteristic ratios. The implementation results show the good performances of the overhead crane system controlled by these controllers. The speed adjustment effects and fast rejection of the disturbance effect occurred at the input force of the trolley are also shown by the experimental results. © 2008 SICE.
