Item type:Publication, Fabrication of 0.7BaTiO3-0.3Ni0.7Zn0.3Fe2O4 Multiferroic Composite Ceramics Prepared by the Solid-State Combustion Technique(2023-01-01) ;Yimsabai, Sununta ;Warakham, Wichai ;Pinitsoontorn, Supree; Bongkarn, TheerachaiLead-free multiferroic composite ceramics of 0.7BaTiO<inf>3</inf>-0.3Ni<inf>0.7</inf>Zn<inf>0.3</inf>Fe<inf>2</inf>O<inf>4</inf> (BT-NZF) were prepared by the solid-state combustion technique. The BT and NZF powders were calcined in the range of 1100 to 1200 °C for 4 h and 900 to 1100 °C for 2 h, respectively. Afterward, BT-NZF composite ceramics were sintered between 1100 and 1250 °C for 4 h. The effect of the firing temperature on the phase formation, microstructure, electrical, and magnetic properties of BT-NZF composite ceramics was investigated. X-ray diffraction of BT and NFZ powders showed the highest purity phase were prepared the calcination temperatures of 1100 and 1050 °C, respectively. The BT-NZF composite ceramics exhibited coexisting tetragonal perovskite and cubic spinel phases. The maximum density of 5.85 g/cm3 was obtained when sintering the composite ceramics at 1125 °C. The dielectric constant at room temperature increased with increased sintering temperature. The hysteresis loops showed leakage current in all samples. Ferromagnetic properties showed the highest M<inf>s</inf> ∼ 24.56 emu/g measured under a magnetic field of 10,000 Oe from the sample sintered at 1150 °C. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, High Density Polyethylene/Calcium Silicate Hybrid Composite: Preparation, Characterization and In Vitro Bioactivity(2023-01-01); The high density polyethylene/calcium silicate (HDPE/CS) hybrid composites were prepared using a twin-screw extruder and shaped into test specimens using a compression molding machine. The CS loadings, limited to a total of 20 %vol, were incorporated in HDPE matrix. The morphological behavior, thermal behavior, mechanical properties and bioactivity of the composites were investigated and compared with the neat HDPE under identical conditions. It was found that poor dispersion of the CS particles was observed in the composites with high CS loadings because of only weak interaction between CS particles and HDPE. The percentage of HDPE crystallinity was insignificantly changed when adding CS particles in the HDPE/CS composites. The stiffness of the HDPE/CS hybrid composites was strongly improved and reached the maximum values of flexural and compressive moduli at 1190 MPa (35% greater than the neat HDPE) and 581 Ma (17% greater than the neat HDPE), respectively, with 15 % CS loading. The higher the CS loading, the greater the hardness of the HDPE/CS composites were seen. However, the flexural strength of the HDPE/CS composites (up to 15% CS loading) was not considerably altered. Moreover, both flexural and compressive properties were lowered with higher CS content (20%) due to the generated voids in the HDPE/CS composites. After soaking in simulated body fluid (SBF) at 36.5°C for 7–49 days, the HDPE/CS composites could induce the formation of ball-like HA aggregates covering on the composite surface, indicating its bioactivity. This research successfully prepared HDPE/CS hybrid composites with fast rate bioactivity and their modulus and strength values were within those for human trabecular bone. Therefore, the HDPE/CS hybrid composites had potentially used as bioactive materials for medical applications.3 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Influence of various nanofillers on mechanical and electrical properties of epoxy resin composites(2022-01-01) ;Kitichatpayak, D. ;Makcharoen, W.; Epoxy-based composites are widely used in the aircraft, automobile, and microelectronic industries. The incorporation of various nanofillers into epoxy resins can yield high-performance composites having high strength, lightweight, and multifunctional properties. So, this work focuses on the preparation of various inorganic nanoparticles including the waste glass powder received from the broken windowpane filled in an epoxy resin matrix to create high-performance composites. The physical, chemical, mechanical, and electrical properties were investigated for all samples. The results show that the neat epoxy resin shows the lowest HV value and loses the most weight in the abrasion test. Whereas ZnO/epoxy resin composite shows the highest H<inf>V</inf>, the Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>/epoxy resin composite loses less weight in the abrasion test. For electrical results, the resistivity of epoxy resin composites filled with 2 wt% of Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> shows the highest value which is about 45% increase from the pure epoxy resin. Finally, it can be concluded that all inorganic fillers which are SiO<inf>2</inf>, Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>, TiO<inf>2</inf>, and ZnO including waste glass powder can really improve the hardness, abrasion resistance, and electrical resistivity of the epoxy resin.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of various nanofillers on the insulating properties of polyethylene composites(2022-01-01) ;Muenphan, NatchaThis work focuses on the preparation of various inorganic nanoparticles i.e. Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>, SiO<inf>2</inf>, TiO<inf>2</inf> including the waste glass powder filled in high-density polyethylene (HDPE H455JA) matrix to create high-performance composites. The glass powder prepared from broken windowpane was used in this study in order to use as a guideline to find substitutes for commercial materials and also add value to waste and reduce costs. The 2 wt% of each filler was weighed and mixed with HDPE to create a composite by using a simple mold casting technique. The physical, chemical and electrical properties were investigated for all samples. The results show that the ε<inf>r</inf> value of the pure HDPE and the HDPE-based composites are approximately the same in all frequencies and the ε<inf>r</inf> of pure HDPE tends to decrease about 7.8% at elevated temperature, whereas the ε<inf>r</inf> value of composites is less decreased at higher operating temperatures for all samples which can imply that the composites are more capable of operating at higher temperatures than pure HDPE itself. For the electrical resistivity, the ρ value gradually increases at elevated temperature for all samples and the composites show a higher ρ value than that of pure HDPE.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Improvement in physical and electrical properties of poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogel conductive polymer composites(2015-07-01) ;Phuchaduek, Winatthakan ;Jamnongkan, Tongsai ;Rattanasak, Ubolluk; Kaewpirom, SupraneeWith an aim to develop anti-electrostatic discharge materials based on biodegradable polymers, poly(vinyl alcohol) films composited with two different conductive fillers (carbon black and aluminium) at various fillers contents (20-60%wt), were manufactured using solvent-casting technique. The mechanical properties of such the films were investigated through tensile stress-strain tests. Wettability and morphology of the composite films were performed by water contact angle measurement and SEM, respectively. Young's modulus of the composite films can be increased with the addition of conductive fillers. The surface of the composite films showed non-homogeneous appearance, in which the phase boundary within the composites was clearly observed and the conductive fillers formed aggregation structure at high filler concentration. In addition, the composite films exhibited better hydrophobicity when higher conductive filler content was added. TGA results suggested that both carbon black and aluminum have proven their efficiency to enhance thermal stability of poly(vinyl alcohol). Investigation of cross-cut adhesion performance of the prepared composite films revealed that carbon black-filled composites exhibited excellent adhesion strength. The effect of conductive filler content on surface resistivity of the composite films was also examined. The experimental results confirmed that both the fillers used in this study can improve the electrical conductivity of poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogel. The surface resistivity of the composite films was reduced by several orders of magnitude when the filler of its critical concentration was applied.
