Item type:Publication, Comparative analysis between control in the host and control in the field in terms of safety and availability for foundation fieldbus-based process control(2018-04-01) ;Julsereewong, Amphawan ;Whatphat, Nopthawach ;Sangsuwan, Thaksin ;Chanwutitum, JirasakThepmanee, TeerawatDesign work of process control to provide necessary performance requirements must be based on capabilities and limitations of the technology used. This paper aims at analyzing possible safety and availability enhancements of basic process control based on Foundation Fieldbus (FF) technology in which the control function blocks can be assigned either in the host system controller, called ‘Control in the Host’ (CIH), or in the field devices, called ‘Control in the Field’ (CIF). Implementing the control loops with CIH and CIF strategies for water tank process is utilized as a case study to demonstrate the proposed analysis. The major configuration details of field devices, control strategies, and function blocks are described. Experimental results were analyzed for examining the parameter options as well as the control loop actions in response to invalid measurements to compare the safety and availability improvements between the CIH and the CIF. The proposed analysis can be useful to enable economical solutions for design phase of the FF-based control loops. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Petri net modeling for performance analysis of FF-based process control in terms of safety and availability enhancement(2017-12-13) ;Sangsuwan, Thaksin ;Whatphat, Nopthawach ;Chanwutitum, Jirasak ;Thepmanee, TeerawatJulsereewong, AmphawanIn case of device and communication failures, a basic process control using Foundation Fieldbus technology can be configured to provide either safety improvement for preventing hazards or availability enhancement for minimizing production losses. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a system modeling with Petri Net technique for representing the behaviors of the proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and cascade loops with 'Control in the Field' (CIF) and 'Control in the Host' (CIH) architectures in response to instrument and communication failures. The proposed modeling is useful for performance analysis of the interested control loops in terms of safety and availability improvement. Stakeholders of both brownfield and greenfield projects in process industry sector can select a proper solution to their necessary performance requirements. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, An electronically tunable current-mode first-order allpass filter using a CCCCTA(2013-12-01) ;Kumngern, MontreeChanwutitum, JirasakThis paper presents a new current-mode first-order allpass filter employing only one current-controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifier (CCCCTA), one capacitor and one MOS resistor. The pole frequency and the current gain of the filter can be controlled electronically by the bias currents of the CCCCTA. Also, both inverting and non-inverting allpass filters can be achieved into a single circuit. No component-matching condition requirements are needed for realizing allpass filtering function. PSPICE simulations using TSMC 0.25 μm CMOS is performed to examine the proposed filter. © 2013 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Single MCCCCTA-based mixed-mode third-order quadrature oscillator(2012-11-22) ;Kumngern, MontreeChanwutitum, JirasakThis paper presents a new current-controlled mixed-mode third-order quadrature oscillator. The proposed structure employs one modified current-controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifier (MCCCCTA) and three grounded capacitors that can generate two quadrature voltage outputs and four quadrature current outputs. The use of grounded capacitor makes the proposed structure more suitable for integrated circuit implementation. The condition of oscillation and the frequency of oscillation can be controlled orthogonally and electronically by adjusting the biasing currents of the MCCCCTA. Simulation results verifying the theoretical analysis are also included. © 2012 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Voltage-mode first-order allpass filter using single-ended OTAs and grounded capacitor(2012-07-16) ;Kumngern, MontreeChanwutitum, JirasakThis paper presents a new electronically tunable voltage-mode first-order allpass filter using only three single-ended operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs) and one grounded capacitor, which is highly suitable for integrated circuit implementation. The pole frequency of the filter can be tuned electronically by adjusting the transconductance value of the OTA. No component-matching conditions are also required for realizing allpass response. Item type:Publication, Electronically tunable multiphase sinusoidal oscillator using translinear current conveyors(2010-11-01) ;Kumngern, Montree ;Chanwutitum, JirasakDejhan, KobchaiA new electronically tunable current-mode multiphase sinusoidal oscillator based on translinear current conveyors is presented. The proposed oscillator circuit, which employs only one translinear current conveyor and one grounded capacitor for each phase, can generate arbitrary N output current equal-amplitude signals that are equally spaced in phase (N being even or odd), all at high output impedance terminals. The frequency of oscillation and the condition of oscillation can be controlled electronically and independently through the bias current of the translinear current conveyor. The proposed structure also has simple circuitry, low-component count, and is highly suitable for integrated circuit implementation. The theoretical results were verified by PSPICE simulation. In addition, the modification of the N sinusoidal oscillators to construct a programmable multiphase oscillator is also discussed. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Current-tunable current-mode universal filter using minimum elements(2009-10-22) ;Kumngern, Montree ;Chanwutitum, JirasakDejhan, KobchaiIn this paper, a new electronically tunable current-mode universal filter with three inputs and single output employing only two translinear current conveyors and two grounded capacitors is presented. The proposed configuration provides lowpass, bandpass, highpass, bandstop and allpass current responses by choosing appropriate input signals without any component matching conditions, all at a high impedance output which enables easy cascading in the current-mode operation. The filter also offers independent electronic control of the natural frequency (ω<inf>0</inf>) and the quality factor (Q) through adjusting of the bias current and the current gain of the CCCII. The parameter sensitivities are all very low and the structure is very suitable for IC implementation. The characteristics of the proposed circuit are simulated using PSPICE to confirm the theory. ©2009 IEEE.
