Item type:Publication, Efficiency of SPIONs functionalized with polyethylene glycol bis(amine) for heavy metal removal(2016-09-15) ;Wanna, Yongyuth ;Chindaduang, Anon ;Tumcharern, Gamolwan ;Phromyothin, DarineePorntheerapat, SupanitHybrid magnetic nanoparticles based on poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) and super-paramagnetic iron oxide nanopaticles (SPIONs) with selective surface modification has been developed for heavy metal removal by applying external magnetic fields. The nanoparticles were prepared by the emulsion polymerization technique in an aqueous suspension of SPIONs. The hydrolysis of carboxyl functional group was then applied for grafting polyethylene glycol bis(amine)(PEG-bis(amine)) onto the PMMA-coated SPIONs. The morphology, the chemical structure and the magnetic properties of the grafted nanoparticles were investigated. The efficiency of the hybrid nanoparticles for heavy metal removal were conducted on Pb(II), Hg(II), Cu(II) and Co(II) in aqueous solutions. The metal concentration in the solutions after separation by the hybrid nanoparticles was determined by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES). The results show the heavy metal uptake ratios of 0.08, 0.04, 0.03, and 0.01 mM per gramme of the grafted SPIONs for Pb(II), Hg(II), Cu(II), and Co(II), respectively. A competitive removal of Cu(II), Pb(II), Co(II) and Hg(II) ions in mixed metal salt solutions has also been studied. The heavy metal removal efficiency of the hybrid nanoparitcles was found to depend on the cation radius, in accordance with capture of metal ions by the amine group. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Preparation and characterization of PEG bis(amine) grafted PMMA/SPION composite nanoparticles(2016-03-01) ;Wanna, Yongyuth ;Pui-ngam, Rachineewan ;Nukeaw, Jitti ;Chindaduang, AnonTumcharern, GamolwanWe report novel magnetic composite nanoparticles for heavy metal ion separation. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) and were coated with poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) by emulsion polymerization process in the aqueous suspension of SPIONs. In addition, the hydrolysis of carboxylic functional groups onto the PMMA-coated SPIONs was grafted with Polyethylene glycol bis(amine). Then, the functional group structures were investigated by Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The morphology of PMMA/SPIONs was determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM). The magnetic property was investigated by the vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The metal concentration in the solution after separation using the nanoparticles was determined by inductivity coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES). Furthermore, we demonstrate that the efficiencies of the heavy metal ion removal for Cu(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) are 80.0%, 57.7%, 54.3%, 40.0%, 34.8%, 32.5% and 30.2% by weight, respectively. The nanoparticles also exhibit some selectivity for copper, manganese and zinc. The results show that the composite nanoparticles are extremely promising for heavy metal ion separation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Surface morphology and structural investigation of TiN nanocrystal thin films grown with different N2 concentration(2013-02-19) ;Jiramongkolsiri, Udom ;Thanomngam, Pitiporn ;Pankiew, Apilak ;Porntheerapat, SupanitNukeaw, JitiIn this work, new information on surface morphology, phase and local structure of titanium nitride (TiN) nanocrystal thin films grown with different nitrogen gas concentration by direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering is provided. Surface morphology of the thin films was studied by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). Phase and local structure of the TiN nanocrystals were determined by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD) and X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS). The TiN nanocrystals were prepared on silicon substrates. N<inf>2</inf>/Ar gases were used as reactive gases for sputtering Ti target. The amount of these two reactive gases was varied at different ratios (N<inf>2</inf>/Ar), i.e. 100:0, 75:25, 50:50 and 25:75 respectively. Our results suggested that sputtering Ti target with high N<inf>2</inf>/Ar gas ratio (higher than 75%) provides good TiN layer while sputtering with low N<inf>2</inf>/Ar gas ratio (lower than 25%) gives Ti layer instead of TiN. In addition, sputtering with 50% N<inf>2</inf>/Ar gas ratio gives a multiphase system between TiN and Ti. Local structure parameters of these nanocrystal thin films are reported. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of annealing temperature on TiO2 structured films by the glancing angle deposition with incline spinning substrate on rotating holder method(2011-10-13) ;Mekla, Vatcharinkorn ;Pukird, Supakorn ;Porntheerapat, SupanitNukeaw, JitiThis work reports the effects of annealing on the TiO<inf>2</inf> thin films prepared by the GLAD technique with incline spinning substrate on rotating holder (ISSRH) by using the electron beam evaporation. The prepared films were heated at 500 C , 600 C and 700 C for 2 hr in air. The microstructure of films was studied by UV- visible photometer, X-ray diffraction, XRD and field emission scanning electron microscope, FE-SEM. The results showed the sample films exhibited continuity distribution of the crystalline. The XRD peaks of anatase phase were increased slightly vary with annealing temperature. The porosity of films has been changed with increasing temperature. The film with annealing at 500 C showed the percentage of transferring range of 442-800 nm wavelengths and the maximum absorption of light at 418 nm wavelengths. The calculation evidenced the energy band gap of TiO<inf>2</inf> nanostructures was around 3.41 eV. © 2011 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of thickness on GLAD TiO2 thin films with incline spinning substrate on rotating holder (ISSRH) technique(2011-06-06) ;Mekla, Vatcharinkorn ;Pukird, Supakorn ;Porntheerapat, SupanitNukeaw, JitiThe report presents the effects of the thickness on the TiO<inf>2</inf> thin films prepared by the GLAD technique with incline spinning substrate on rotating holder (ISSRH) by using the electron beam evaporation. The prepared films were heated at 500 °C for 2 hr in air. The microstructure of films was investigated by UV- visible photometer, X-ray diffraction, XRD and field emission scanning electron microscope, FE-SEM. The results showed the thickness of 10, 50, 100 and 300 nm films exhibited continuity distribution of the crystalline. The crystalline structure evidenced the dominant peak at the 300 nm thickness. GLAD TiO<inf>2</inf> films exhibited the columnar growth and porosity. The TiO<inf>2</inf> nanostructures showed rutile phase. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications.
