This paper presents the use of a micro-optical conjugate mirror for 3D pixel construction, which can be used to construct and reconstruct the 3D pixel using the microoptical device. A conjugate mirror is formed by a semiconductor device, which is a tiny nonlinear optical device. By using the common laser as the input light beam, the object and reference beams can be formed by the reflected light beams from the PANDA ring through and drop ports. The interference between these two beams forms the 3D pixel by the four-wave mixing behavior coupled by the two nonlinear side rings. The 3D pixel is seen in the form of whispering gallery modes (WGMs) at the PANDA ring center, which is the real image, while the reconstruction images can also be obtained via the PANDA ring output port. The simulated results and graphic designs are obtained by using Optiwave program. This is useful for real 3D image display applications.

We present a new result of pattern recognition generation scheme using a small-scale optical muscle sensing system, which consisted of an optical add-drop filter incorporating two nonlinear optical side ring resonators. When light from laser source enters into the system, the device is stimulated by an external physical parameter that introduces a change in the phase of light propagation within the sensing device, which can be formed by the interference fringe patterns. Results obtained have shown that the fringe patterns can be used to form the relationship between signal patterns and fringe pattern recognitions.

A new sensor system for measuring contraction and relaxation of muscles by using a PANDA ring resonator is proposed. The small scale optical device is designed and configured to perform the coupling effects between the changes in optical device phase shift and human facial muscle movement, which can be used to form the relationship between optical phase shift and muscle movement. By using the Optiwave and MATLAB programs, the results obtained have shown that the measurement of the contraction and relaxation of muscles can be obtained after the muscle movements, in which the unique pattern of individual muscle movement from facial expression can be established. The obtained simulation results, that is, interference signal patterns, can be used to form the various pattern recognitions, which are useful for the human machine interface and the human computer interface application and discussed in detail. © 2013 Kreangsak Tamee et al.

Psychiatric investigation using WGMs in microring circuits

The use of an electrical probe is formed by whispering gallery modes (WGMs) of light within the coated microring circuits, in which the electrical signal is generated by trapped electron tunneling along the circular path of the coated microring circuit. The collection of electrons is formed within the WGMs, where in this study, a modified nonlinear microring resonator known as a PANDA ring resonator is coated by gold material and forms the mirroring circuit. The induced current (magnetic field) within the circuit occurs by the coupling effects between trapped electrons and coated ring, which can penetrate into the brain cells and transform to the required signals via the terahertz carrier for psychiatric investigations. The use of WGMs for 3D image construction using a PANDA conjugate mirror is also discussed, which is useful for thermal and imaging sensors. © The Authors.

A new system of multifunction sensors using dark and bright solitons in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) is proposed. In this concept, the coincidence dark and bright soliton pair within the MZI can be arranged by using the phase controller, in which (|D〉) and (|B〉) states represent the orthogonal dark and bright solitons, respectively. We assume that both solitons are input into the MZI ports simultaneously (coincidently). The randomly input dark and bright soliton states into the MZI ports can perform the change in phase after propagating through a phase shifter/sensing unit, in which the phase change recovery using the phase related measurement device can be provided. By using the orthogonal soliton behaviors, a sensing application using a soliton(photon) pair can be formed. Moreover, the soliton power can be reduced to a single photon power (10 -6 W), where finally the single photon sensor can be operated. The self calibration concept between signal and referencing arms of a MZI can also be established, which is discussed in details. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

We propose a new system of microring sensing transducer using a PANDA ring resonator type, in which the sensing unit is consisted of an optical add/drop filter and two nanoring resonators, where one ring is placed as a transducer (sensing unit), the other ring is set as a reference ring. In operation, the external force is assumed to exert on the sensing ring resonator. The method of finite difference time domain (FDTD) via the computer programming called Optiwave is used to simulate the sensing behaviors. The obtained results have shown that the change in wavelength due to the change in sensing ring radii is seen, in which the wavelength shift of 1 nm resolution is achieved. The distributed sensing system is designed, which is available for network sensing applications. The behavior of light within a PANDA ring resonator is also analyzed and reviewed. © 2006 IEEE.

Learning Classifier Systems (LCS) have previously been shown to have application in Intrusion Detection. This paper extends work in the area by applying the Self-Organizing Map (SOM) for creating the new input string by 2-bit encoding rely on degree of deviation of normal behaviour. The performance of systems is investigated under an FTP-only dataset. It is shown that the proposed system is able to perform significantly better than the conventional XCS, modified XCS and twelve ML algorithms. © 2008 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.

XCS is one of the most powerful learning classifier systems. It combines reinforcement learning and genetic algorithm to create a set of rules representing the extracted knowledge from dataset. The main advantage of this system is to provide rule-based models that represent human-readable patterns. However, not too much public have yet been studied in imbalance dataset. In this paper, we propose a novel technique to develop XCS deal with imbalance dataset. The proposed technique uses adaptive perception rate for each rule to provide balance learning between major and minor class. The experiment show that the propose technique can classify all level of imbalance classes on the well-know Boolean logic benchmark task - multiplexer problem. ©2008 IEEE.

This chapter presents a novel approach to clustering using an accuracy-based Learning Classifier System. Our approach achieves this by exploiting the generalization mechanisms inherent to such systems. The purpose of the work is to develop an approach to learning rules which accurately describe clusters without prior assumptions as to their number within a given dataset. Favourable comparisons to the commonly used k-means algorithm are demonstrated on a number of synthetic datasets. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
