This paper presents a PI controller based on a direct synthesis method for DC-link voltage control of an active power filter. This method is widely used for controller design in industrial process control and it suits controller design for DC-link voltage control. It is easy to calculate proportional gain and integral gain of the PI controller with defining only the desired settling time but it offers good performance for reference voltage tracking without overshooting. Its gain margin and phase margin are high positive values indicating that the proposed method has very good stability. The experimental results confirm that the proposed method has fast dynamic response., accuracy of settling time according to desired settling time for reference tracking and good regulation for disturbance change.

This paper presents improvement of an output performance of a two-switch forward converter with a Lead-Lag (LL) controller. The controller design is illustrated and its ability to regulate the converter's output voltage is evaluated experimentally. It is revealed that the converter employing the LL controller can achieve a higher system bandwidth compared to that employing the Proportional-plus-Integral (PI) controller, therefore exhibiting a faster output voltage response.

In case of changing a communication between field instruments and controller from analog signal into digital signal or of changing a model of plant, performance of controller is degraded because of the fixed controller parameters such as PID controller. To solve this problem, a self-tuning PID controller is proposed. One of a popular self-tuning method is self-tuning fuzzy. Many researchers have been presented the self-tuning fuzzy PID controller. In this paper, we present implementing of self-tuning fuzzy PI controller for flow control system. Both fuzzy and PI controller is implemented on distributed control system (DCS) as controller at which communication between field instruments and distributed control system is via both the analog input and output modules as analog signal in range of 4-20mA and digital signal as Profibus PA. The PI controller parameters, proportional gain and integral time, from auto-tuning method is used to control plant, flow control system, by using analog signal at which result shows that flow process variable reaches to flow set point. The same PI controller parameters is applied for PROFIBUS PA at which results shows that flow process variable oscillates because of effect of delay-time taken place from communication between field instruments and distributed control system.

The aim of this paper is to present a simplified vector control implementation without current sensors in order to reduce cost of overall system, design complexity, and improving by using proportional-integral fuzzy logic control (PI-FLC) for high performance in wide-speed-range operation. In this scheme, voltage source inverter used space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) technique that is good voltage utilization and low total harmonic distortion (THD), where voltage control signal of inverter is derived from indirect vector control (IVC) theory and dynamic motor equation. The complete PI-FLC vector control was experimentally implemented using dsPIC4011 board for 1/2-hp squirrel cage induction motor (IM). This proposed control system was compared with conventional proportional-integral (PI) control validated by MATLAB/Simulink and experiment. Both control techniques were tested at different dynamic conditions such as sudden speed change and speed tracking. The comparative experimental results show that the PI-FLC vector control is more robust for this application.

This paper presents the design of PI controller using Decoupling and CRA technique for quadruple-tanks process. In case of, TITO interacting system such as quadruple-tanks process, the controller designs have been performed ambitiously because interferences between inputs and outputs. With the proposed method, The Decoupling controllers have been used for decreasing the cross coupling between inputs and outputs and transforming TITO plant transfer function into SISO form so that SISO controller for each SISO model can be designed easily and efficiently. Furthermore, Using CRA technique has made the output response achieve the required performance specification. Also, in non-minimum-phase, PI controller with inverted Decoupling can stabilize the system and minimize several undesirable influences from an interaction in TITO process. The results from control system design can be illustrated by the experiments. © 2011 ICROS.

This paper is purposed to improve the high frequency stability of the voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with dual feedback loop. The proposed of closed loop VCO (CLVCO) is composed of PI controller in the forward part and in the feedback part the phase locked loop is used instead of a frequency to voltage converter (FVC) for some advantages, there is no need for a large frequency division element (1/N) in the feedback part. The other advantages of phase-locked loop is used as the feedback element, the high frequency bandwidth of a closed loop VCO is possibly designed. The CLVCO can greatly improved VCO characteristic such as faster speed response as well as higher operation bandwidth, to minimize the effect of the VCO noise and the power supply variation and also obtain better linearity of VCO output. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed CLVCO. © 2005 SICE.

This paper presents the integrated circuit combined with PI controller and the frequency to voltage converter (FVC) acting as the feedback part to be a closed-loop VCO circuit (CLVCO). The PI controller is designed by symmetrical optimum for optimum output response so as to minimize the effect of VCO noise. This closed loop circuit can achieve good frequency stability as well as good noise suppression. The experimental results show that CLVCO is independent from power supply variation and the frequency stability due to the effect of VCO noise or voltage drift which is greatly improved. © 2005 SICE.

This paper, we propose a new phase-locked loop (PLL) system with controllable the output phase independent from the output frequency and lock-up time. This PLL system has a dual control loop is described, the inner loop greatly improves VCO characteristic. The main loop is the heart of this PLL, which greatly improves the output frequency instability due to the external high frequency noise coupling to the input reference frequency. This main loop has the two control inputs, the first one achieves to control the output frequency of the VCO and the other one is used to control the output phase independently from the frequency output as well as the lock-up time which can be controlled for optimum output response by this input. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed phase-locked loop. © 2005 SICE.
