Item type:Publication, Unleashing the potential of UAVs in agriculture: ASEAN and Thailand’s rice production industry improvements: Review article(2023-09-01) ;Mikhaylov, D.; Mitrokhin, M.Agriculture is vital for economic sustainability and structural transformation in ASEAN. This paper explores the agricultural landscape in ASEAN, focusing on Thailand as a prominent rice producer. Challenges such as rural-urban migration, the ageing population employed in agriculture, and need to implement innovative solutions to strengthen regional food security are discussed. The primary focus is the innovative use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in ASEAN agriculture. UAVs revolutionize data collection through aerial photography, providing real-time insights into terrain, vegetation health, and soil composition. They enable informed decisions, optimize resource allocation, and streamline processes, resulting in cost savings. Equipped with sensors, UAVs precisely monitor crop health, irrigation efficiency, and early pest detection. Integration of advanced software and geographical information systems enhances data analysis and visualization. UAVs facilitate high-resolution mapping, offering detailed information on crop density, weed infestation, and disease outbreaks. This enables targeted interventions, reducing input costs and optimizing resource allocation. Multispectral or hyperspectral sensors provide insights into plant health, chlorophyll content, and water stress, enabling site-specific management strategies for improved sustainability. UAVs are affordable, versatile, and continuously advancing. They can potentially improve productivity, efficiency, and resource management in agriculture. In rice production, UAVs offer benefits like crop monitoring, precise spraying, and uniform seed spreading. They provide real-time information on crop health and pest infestations, enabling optimized management. Spray drones accurately apply pesticides, while seed-spreading drones enhance crop growth and save costs. UAV drones offer significant advantages in ASEAN agriculture, addressing workforce challenges and enhancing productivity. Supportive measures will lead to efficient UAV integration, enhancing sustainability and farmer livelihoods.2 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A Data Visualization for Helping Students Decide Which General Education Courses to Enroll: Case of Chulalongkorn University(2019-01-01) ;Cooharojananone, Nagul ;Dilokpabhapbhat, Jidapa ;Rimnong-ang, Thanaporn ;Choosuwan, ManutsayaBunram, PattamonChulalongkorn University has been utilizing information systems for course administration system, named CU-CAS, to help manage the course syllabus, course contents and course satisfaction survey. While current students have been selecting courses based on information from seniors and friends, we recognize that the data from CU-CAS could be useful in selecting course, but have not been fully utilized. Therefore, this project aims to design a data dashboard to help students select courses to register, based on the data from course satisfaction survey by students from the past three years of course offerings. In this work, we developed CU-CAS data visualization using Google Data Studio. Data were analyzed and presented the overall of the evaluation result in term of dashboard. According to our pilot study, students make decisions for enrollment by comparing the evaluation result in the past three years, in the form of different indicators. We also collected and analyzed data from the student blogs that review courses that they took using word cloud and Markov chain. Both data from CU-CAS and blogs will be represented to students to help students make decision in registering courses. This project is one of the e orts to utilize data in a way that is easy to understand to students, allow Chulalongkorn University to understand students learning behavior, and bring back to plan and adjust teaching strategies.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Monitoring roadway lights and pavement defects for nighttime street safety assessment by sensor data analysis and visualization(2018-01-01)Street maintenance and improvement are significant missions in ensuring transportation safety, especially at nighttime because the severity of injuries doubles at night. Driving visibility and road surface conditions are key factors behind nighttime traffic accidents, and they must be solved as a major priority. Having an exclusive report representing this issue becomes useful documentation for preparing an effective plan for repairing and upgrading a street at appropriate locations. However, road observations are mostly performed by humans, so reports are imprecise owing to the limitation of human cognition and documentation during observation at night. For this reason, the aim of this work is to create a visualization report for monitoring the risk on a street at nighttime. To achieve this goal, a light sensor for measuring brightness on the road, a gyro sensor and an accelerometer for detecting pavement defects, and a location sensor for marking the current latitude and longitude are placed in a car, and the data obtained are transferred to a cloud database while driving on the road. After that, all data are analyzed by machine learning techniques to identify some critical failures and report on map visualization. The result demonstrates that this approach can visualize the right defect at the correct location, and it will become an important contribution to transport safety. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Ka-band rain attenuation by radiometer method(2003-01-01) ;Nukfron, E. ;Boonchank, T. ;Decharat, A.Hemmakorn, N.This paper would focus on investigating signal attenuation of Ka-band at zone N by using radiometer method and finally analyses the collective data by new developing indirect equation is ratiometer equation. According to equation analysis, the signal attenuation of Ka-band frequency depends on the differentiation of noise signal between clear sky condition and rain condition. Consequently, increasing of noise signal level is the result from rain cloud absorbing and discharging. The experiment site in this article was located at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology (KMITL) LadKrabang, Bangkok, Thailand (latitude 108E° and longitude 13.7N°) which represent for the tropical zone site. During 12 months of experiment period from May 2001 to April 2002, the results reveals clearly that the signal attenuation of Ka-band frequency are divided into 3 stages as follow: Stage I: signal attenuation before raining which is affect from rain cloud; Stage II: signal attenuation in raining period which is affect from rain; Stage III: signal attenuation after raining which is affect from high humidity. Finally, this paper will present worst month and lowest month in cumulative attenuation.
