We developed an algorithm that compared the movements of a Thai boxing trainer and those of a trainee and produced a video clip that a trainer can use for training novice boxers in a training camp or that a trainee could use for self-training. In the developed system, a Microsoft Kinect sensor was used to capture 3D joint positions of the body of a trainer or trainee. A cosine similarity and an angular dynamic time warping were used to determine a similarity score between the postures or joint positions of the trainer and the trainee for static and dynamic poses respectively. Based on these similarity scores, suggestions to trainees on how to improve their boxing postures were overlaid on the recorded video clip, helping the trainee to improve his/her posture and movement. The proposed algorithm and developed framework could be easily used for other training such as yoga, dance, cardio workouts because the system allows to track and compare the whole body of users.

Considered as an effective learning strategy for dyslexia, multisensory approach demands visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activity. While development of software application implementing multisensory approach has shown promising result, previous applications did not accurately resemble multisensory strategy because there are no kinesthetic implementations. This research proposes a Kinect-based application, termed LexiPal, which incorporates kinesthetic activity in multisensory implementation by using Natural User Interface (NUI). NUI provides more intuitive ways of interacting with the application by using body movement and gesture. LexiPal implements NUI by fusing several technologies including Augmented/Mixed Reality (AR/MR), non-contact human-computer interaction, skeletal tracking, hand tracking, and gesture recognition. For evaluation purpose, LexiPal was tested on 40 dyslexic children and they considered LexiPal user interaction as easy to use and enjoyable, which attract them to play the learning content again in the near future.

In this paper we develop hand gesture commands for a Pan-tilt zoom camera. Our proposed scheme creates commands based on hand position and orientation which are captured by a motion sensor (Kinect). The new algorithm supports a rectangular area. In the calibration process, we focus on four interesting points and record two sets of four coordinates from both cameras. The relationship between two sets of values are mapped and applied to control the pan-tilt zoom movement. The results show that a PTZ camera can detect hand gestures and track objects correctly.
